Wayne said MACC will be participating in this instead of doing the autocross this year. Date is May 20th, a Friday. See this LINK for more info. Since it's a Friday, I'm told it will fill up quick.
Date: Friday, May 20
Time: 2:30pm - 9pm - Time to drive out that morning.
Cost: $170 (non SCCA Member) $155 Ofa member.

Attached are the trackmap (slow 8) and tech sheet

Paul, is there a way to add this to the calendar from this post or do I need to create a new post to do that?

Hi all,
I understand it's early but I'm posting to politely ask if I can and if someone is willing to let me borrow their enclosed trailer for the Heartland event if they know they're not going to attend. The plan would be to pick up the trailer 19 May (Thursday) and return the trailer 21 May (Saturday). For completely transparency, overnight will be at Hyatt Place Kansas City/Lenexa City Center for trailer safety and parking space.

More GCC cobras at the event would be better though 🙂 Highly encouraged, thanks
Steven

Steven, if I can't go you're welcome to use my trailer. I'd just need to unload whatever stuff is being stored in it first. (y)

Thank you all for the offers. I've taken Mark up on his generous offer to borrow his trailer pending finding his keys :)

Steven, Kent is in Glen Carbon, Il and much closer to you... Just a thought.

I'm kind of interested in doing this. It works with my schedule. All the PDE St.L dates don't work. I have a couple of questions. Do I need a national membership and a regional one? And I noticed on the Tech sheet that it says working windshield wipers. I have none. Will I be exempt? I sent an email asking the SCCA.

Tim and Steven, are you guys driving out the morning of the 20th? Driving home the 21st?

It'd be great if you could make it (y) When you sign up you can just select - temp scca membership ($15). I don't think you need separate national and regional memberships. I don't know about the wipers. Yes, I'm driving out the morning of the 20th and driving home on the 21st.

For those interested, blank Heartland track maps for notes.

Get a regional membership if you're going to participate in 3 or more of their events.

Who’s all doing this? …. It’s in Topeka? Drive out Friday am …. Hotel Friday nite -? - suggestions - drive home Sat… one day event?

Just me and Steven to my knowledge. Ian, you'll need to register as a novice which REQUIRES an instructor with you I think. Maybe Wayne can share more info.

So, I would like to do this. But as I said earlier the tech sheet says it needs working windshield wipers. So I sent an email to the SCCA asking about that. Here was his response.

“Is your factory five a street car? With license plates? What kind of rollover protection does it have? Can you send me some pictures?
That's the facts,
- Jack”

So I sent him pictures and this was his response.

“I think the low back seats may be an issue. Can you check with factory 5 and see what they recommend as far as meeting our requirements.” He attached this flow chart.

The tech sheet says nothing about high back seats. Only roll bar padding. And the flow chart he sent doesn’t say that either.

What the hell?? This is the story of my life. I guess I need to find out who is in charge of the local SCCA and call them. I don’t want to spend all the time and money and then not pass tech.

Update: I just check on the Heartland track day event for a contact. It’s the same guy. Jack Track.
I don’t know what to think. I hope all the MACC guys doing this are aware.

That seems odd. Photos from MACC last trackday at Heartland show Wayne's cobra with low back and no wipers (i deleted the photo examples). I think its a roll of the dice but a situation where if you ask enough people someone is going to say "no".
