LeMans Winner About to Pass Second Place Ferrari 488

Yeah, going to LeMans is really easy......and cheap. You just take the high speed train from Paris, for the day, for about $60 round trip. We went Sunday morning. It's like 125 miles, but takes only 53 minutes on the hi-speed train. One stop. There's a tram right outside the station that takes you to the track. A two minute walk and you're inside and watching maybe the best turn on the track. Tickets were only about $50 each. So, for about $200, my wife and I went for the day. We got there about 9 on Sunday morning and left about 2 pm. The race ends at 3. But 250,000 people attended and I wanted no part of staying to the end! We actually got seats on the tram back to the station and seating on the hi-speed train is reserved. I booked everything from here, before we left. The only negative is we didn't see a single sani-john toilet in the whole track! Guys just go up in the trees behind the track. I don't know what the few women did. And no souvenir stands, can you believe it? I wanted to get a hat. But the whole thing was a great experience. Those cars really fly. I didn't see the Mulsanne straight, which I think it is almost 2 miles long. I think the Ford GT's hit around 240 mph, but haven't checked. The track is about 6 miles around and a lap takes about 4 minutes. And with four different classes, there is a lot of cool passing because of the speed diferrential. I highly recommend it at least once in your lifetime.

Sorry, it's 8.47 miles around and lap record is about 140 mph average (by P1 Prototypes). I didn't know they'd put two chicanes on the Mulsanne straight, which is 3.7 miles long. So now, the longest part of Mulsanne is 'only' 1.2 miles. I guess the highest speeds achieved by the Ford GT's are nowhere near 240.
