I was sent this from a fellow Cobra owner in Kansas City that thought the story was interesting.  After reading through the articles, it is very interesting.  Take a look at the link and follow the other links on that page for more info and some cool pictures.  The Mid America Cobra Club has an […]

I received the following e-mail from Ken Williams with MACC:

Tim,
My name is Ken Williams. Al Rutherford gave me your email address. We both belong to the Mid America Cobra Club in KC.
I’d like to invite the Gateway Cobra Club to the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival, this coming Oct. 10th & 11th, in Garnett, Kansas.
I don’t know if you are familiar with the history of the Lake Garnett Grand Prix, but many Cobras (including Carrol Shelby’s team) raced there in the late 60’s and early 70’s.
The city is trying to resurrect the Grand Prix, sort of, with a track event, not a race.
Sat., Oct 10th is going to be dedicated to the Cobra, with 2 track events (one fast, one slow) plus giving rides around the track. Then Sunday is open to all cars in 4 different speed classes.
If you are interested, please check out http://www.lggpr.org/
If you click on 2015, it doesn’t say anything about the Cobra extravaganza on Sat. That is still being developed. I can keep you up to date as we learn more.
Be sure to click on the LGGPR “Facebook” to see more about last year’s event.
Please let me know if any in your club would be interested in participating.
Ken

So, anyone interested in this besides me?

Definitely interested. Can you pass along our email addresses, or let us know how to stay up to date on MACC participation in this event. Gene

Gene, check out their web page. I will also add it to our calendar. Maybe our crack web admin can figure out a way for upcoming calendar events to send out a flag on the forum :D

At this point, I believe Jim Dooley and I will be going. Paul, Gene, Kerry, and Mike P have also expressed an interest. Jim has already made hotel reservations...I will find out which hotel.

I have it on my calendar but will probably not make it in until late Friday. Will depend on how soon I can cut away from work. Mike P.

I have a room reserved at the Garnett Inn for 10/09 and 10/10. Probably won't arrive Friday until around 9pm. Mike P.

Registration is open as of today for this and is by snail mail ONLY, NO ONLINE REGISTRATION AVAILABLE. The page says the postmark date is important, so, if you plan to go, I would get it in the mail today. Jim D and I are. Registration forms are here - http://www.lggpr.org/Register.htm

I will get my registration sent in. What track group do you suggest I sign up for? The 80mph Group B or would I be fine in 100mph Group C? I already have a room reserved at the Garnett Inn. Mike P.

Mike, for first time, I would suggest Group B, but, you know your skills. I'm sending mine out today. Remember, each registration is reviewed, so, we may get a regrets notice. The more I learn about the event, the more......it seems snobbish like Wayne Carinii is running it or something.

Here is how I completed the form below. I registered for both track days because, well, that's a cheap fee, $20. If I do I do, if not, not a big deal. Or, if it rains Saturday, I can get on the track Sunday :D

Sent my registration in today....hope to get approved. Besides me and Jim...anyone else going?

Very sorry to hear Kerry....ya'll have had a bad stretch here lately.
