I had my front-end and rear-end IRS alignment done by Dave Jumper (or one of his Techs, honestly don't remember, but do remember talking to Dave at the time) in 2013 and I thought they did a great job and I've recommended him to a couple other club members.
Today, I called Jumper and spoke to Dave (he answered the phone) and asked if he mounts tires and still does front-end alignments, anticipating making an appointment next week to have my new tires mounted & balanced and have the front-end re-aligned. I was having some unusual tread wear on the inside, but they do have almost 20k miles on them, so figured it wasn't too bad.
Dave said he couldn't do it until next week, which was expected. I told him I had it aligned 3 years ago, he did good work, and I wanted him to work on my car again.
Then out of the blue he asked where I had my other cars worked on (?) I said I take them to the Dealer. He said he wouldn't work on my Cobra if I didn't bring my other cars in to him, it wasn't worth his time and he lost money on it. I said my other cars are still under warranty so I take them back to the dealer where I bought them.
He asked where did I buy the tires and why didn't I buy them from him? I said I didn't know you sold tires and they are special sizes/brands that most places don't carry.
Again, he told me if I didn't bring my other cars to him, he didn't want my business. (??)
I remained nice, but felt a little insulted.
I asked how he lost money and he explained that when I bring in a special car like that, his whole shop stops working and starts talking and he spends more time answering questions than the money he charges.
He said thanks for calling but he wouldn't do my Cobra unless I brought my other cars to him too. He was kind of nice (kind of), but also kind of sharp. Not sure if he was having a bad day and I just caught him wrong, but that was a surprise.

Bummer, I guess I can understand, but that REALLY caught me off guard. just wow.

Guess I'm looking for another Autoshop.........

I know they are a little pricey, but Alignment Specialists doesn't even need your spec's. He's across from FastLane. I know you're in South County, so I would ask Jim Dooley who he uses. Otherwise, Olympic Automotive in St Peters is owned by Jeff who own's a factory five or Sparks Tire and Auto is good too. No way I take my car to a place that apparently doesn't know word of mouth advertising.

That's a surprise to me as well. I've known Dave for a long time and had him work on multiple vehicles. He did my tires and alignment last fall as well and never a problem and good work. Like you, I've recommended him to friends as well. If there is something wrong with a vehicle that's not covered by the warranty or something, then he's one of the few shops I trust if I can't do the work myself. Sorry to hear he acted like that. Very strange. Word of mouth can travel fast for good and bad and he knows that.

How about John Z at Hunter......?

Might be a light night after hours, or a club night for your car?

just a thought.
