In The News

You're right. The lack of corrective action 18 months to 2 years ago by a lame duck president was hurtful. But the direction this administration is taking is 1) not helpful to those that need help 2) actually damaging to the middle class and 3) turning towards the sureal.

BTW - these ideas that the administration is taking (I feel) are not the ideas of a single person - but a collective of a very left-leaning group of people.

You are also right. What should they be doing in Wash.? Spending us further into debt seems insane!!!!!!!:( But shouldn't they be trying to do something? But what? Can this be fixed w/o gov't spending & if so how???????:confused: I sure as heck don't want my taxes raised as result of wasteful(?) gov't spending!

They propped up the financial system. What was that 1 trillion ? (how many zeros is that?)
But then, instead of curing the actual cause - the housing/mortgage crisis - they balked.
Now, the current seat of power insists that the middle class and upper class must pay more!

Since hindsight is 20/20 - I would contend that if W would have taken direct and rather assertive action towards the housing crisis (therefore the middle class) with a bailout - he may have solved the problem once and for all, and he may have secured a victory for the Republicans in 2008.

What they should do now ? Fix the original problem - the housing and mortgage crisis. Get money and credit moving again. They still have not fixed the housing crisis. It's unbelievable. Without a solid foundation (the middle class) this whole thing is going to collapse.

Collapse! Wow! That's pretty dire. I hope your wrong. Anythings possible. Cause & effect, Amazing isn't it. EVERYTHING has consequences. Some small others not so small. All it took was for greedy bankers/lenders/wall street execs to throw caution to the wind for the all mighty $ & now look what we've got. :( It's so bad it's going to take something amazing (what I don't know) for this thing to turn around. It will be interesting to say the least to see how this thing plays out & if it gets worse who is going to get blamed (guess who) & if it gets better who will get the credit (anybodies guess here).

I agree to a point about greed in the financial industry, but when the Gov. forces banks to loan to sub standard borrowers and penalizes the bank if they don't I can't put the whole mess on the shoulders of the banks. Plus, I remember one of the first stories that came out about greed was on Michael Eisner. I don't remember the exact numbers, but Eisner to an incredible bonus(I think about 55 million!!!) for one year. The catch was Disney had a multi-billion dollar profit(mid 90's). Does anyone need a 55 mil bonus NO!! but if you directly those numbers should you be rewarded? if so how much??

Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix it without raising taxes, BUT my fear, taxes go up as Mark said those that pay taxes are the ones hurting. then the funds don't solve the issues...What then?

Just like in business you gave give someone a raise, but you can't take it back if they don't preform. Are you ready to give our wonderful elected officials a raise?

Goes to show that just because you can afford it doesn't mean you can drive it. Honest officer I wasn't drinking. I was distracted by the pelican while on the cell phone, looking for investment property. WTF! Buy a blue tooth, hire an agent and give me the damn car to drive you around in!

Yep, now make the switch to a reputable company will ya? :D

:o ooops :D Why yes we did. You're going to need a phone upgrade now :)

So many young men and women join the Armed Forces to take advantage of the educational benefits. Unfortunately they don't feel obligated to fulfull thier end of the agreement. This woman joined 2 years ago, we were already in two "wars". She surely had enough sense to know when you join the Army during war time you may have to deploy. Wonder if we(the taxpayer) paid for her pregnancy and birth of her son.
Oh how things have changed..if I had not shown up for my deployment to Viet Nam 43 years ago I would have been AWOL and sent to the brig.
We are just becoming too liberal with our attitudes toward protecting this country.

If her EXCUSE works, then what EXCUSE will be offered by the next person who doesn't want to go & honor their COMMITMENT?
