I had a credit card comprimised/breached.
Has anyone else had this happen recently? The last charge I made was to make reservations for the "Supercruise". Just fishing for the spot this happened. Not accusing.

All, please do not make reservations at the hotel until I get a chance to speak to Mike. If you've already done so, please check your credit card balance just in case.

My mom had her debit card number taken about 1 yr ago. Best thought is it was taken at a restaurant somewhere in Stl. They told her it was a professional operation. They only needed the number then they make cards after stealing the number.

Wonder if you could scratch the number off making them ask you for it, but then again, I guess that three digit number is what they are after.

I have started carrying more cash with me so I don't have to give my credit card to any waiters at restaurants. It only takes a second for them to copy it and then they have all of the information they need. This happened to my wife last year.

In the signature area of my credit cards I always print "Check ID" which forces the store to look at your driver's license.

My bank

my bank had many and mine was 1 all where traced to the ont cal area i called one resturant where mine was used and found out through my bank that it was not a write in or phone order a real card was used they can program your information on a blank card. was a nightmare to say the least as soon as the bank saw my card used in florissant mo. then 20 min later for $200.00 resturant bill in ont. california they froze it and called me. make sure your bank has all your phone numbers.

We still haven't figured out where our card was compromised. But we do know $660+ was spent in Italy....I guess I better keep better track of my wife and her where abouts. or vice versa.
I did a quick searce of the closet full of nothing to wear and didn't find any fancy shoes or purses.

Warning paypal

If you recieve a notice from paypal and it says you need to update your acount within 2 days or it may be declined DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT. Get out of there and go straight to paypal and check to see if this needs to be done. Mine did not so to be safe I changed my password

I have had two credit cards compromised in the last three years and a debit card compromised just this past week. All charges on the credit card were covered so I didn't lose any money and I caught the debit card by watching my charges online almost daily.

If you monitor your cards online you need to watch for "pending authorizations" of $1.00 or less and be CERTAIN these temp authorization are from vendors you have done business with. In my case I saw a temp authorization for a $1.00 from the online Apple store...yet I have no Apple computers or other Apple products and have never done business with Apple...online or otherwise. If the temp authorization goes un-noticed...then the perp knows he has a number to a good account and will follow up with a large purchase that shows up on your card later.

With the credit cards, these were purchases made in AZ and in CA from a card I had used for a motel bill in ...Fayetteville Arkansas...during Bike Blues and BBQ three years ago.

In all cases the cards had to be destroyed and new accounts set up taking about 10 days to complete the process.... so even though no money is lost...it remains a PITA.

Must be something about Arkansas....
