Watch out............................

I try to tread lightly w/my religious beliefs. Ya might wanna do the same w/political opinions. I'm certainly not offended by political satire & humor, but others might be. & BTW If @ ANY time someone takes objection to my occasional assertion of religion into the foray, by all means please speak up & tell me so. I will not be offended & will try to be considerate of everyone. It is not my intent to be PUSHY with my beliefs. I fully understand that it is a highly personal matter, & would not presume to stick my nose in where it does not belong, unless the other person lets me know they R receptive to it.

As a female country group said in one of their songs:

"Praise GOD and pass the amunition"...

I personally am not decided on the election. I don't really care for either candidate...and I agree with OddBall, I have to watch what I say about politics and religion. Many people get the skirts and panties in a ruffle...very quickly...

Dave,

I respect your view...and your beliefs.

But my opinion of Mr. Obama has nothing to do with religion. It has everything to do with the deception and slick packaging of incompetence.

It also has to do with the right we all have to voice our opinions publicly, even when some might consider them politically incorrect or unpopular.

Many of us fought to preserve the right of free speech...among other rights, and do not avoid differences of opinion for the sake of political correctness or the potential risk of offending another human being. Life is full of offensive language and offensive acts. As adults we all learn to live with them. We may not agree with them and we should certainly express our opinion when offended, but we should not remain silent.

We should never be silenced when our hearts urge us to speak out.

I would rather be judged by my speech or my actions...rather than be judged for NOT saying...or not acting...when it became necessary to do so.

If there are those who disagree with ANYTHING I may say...please speak out. It is not only your right to do so...but some would argue...your duty to do so. Express your views.

Who knows...you may convince others you are right. Or...you may not. But don't cower from a conflict and sit idly by while you watch the world head into directions that you feel in your heart...are wrong.

I don't really care for either candidate...

Scott,

I agree with you on this point..100%

Our choices have been so limited and so perverted...that we are left to choose the candidate who we feel will do the LEAST damage to this country.

Based on our options, I would prefer to simply not vote...but that is ignoring the duty we all have as US citizens. We must vote. Even if we have to bow our heads in disgrace as we do so.

It's a national embarrassment that we don't have an honest leader to choose from.

I'm not going any further with this one Kerry..........

If U consider that "cowering" then so be it. Respectfully your friend David. & BTW I will defend to the death UR right of freedom of speech.

Speaking for myself. If I am offended by what is being said I go to a different thread. No offense taken by this one.

Smart move Kid............................................... .....

I'll bet U stay out of a lot more trouble than I do. I always seem to be gettn myself in trouble cause I can't seem to keep my big yap shut!

Dave,

My comments were not directed toward you.

They were directed toward those spectators in life who... never speak out...never get involved... and never support a cause. Comments that were simply an explanation in response to your post.

Many of us respect you for the ability to "step to the plate" and reveal your beliefs when you feel it's necessary. You most definitely are not one of the "spectators" I alluded to.

All good points...

I think you both raise good points - Dave and Kerry...

It seems to me that Obama is heading towards signing on Hillary as a running mate...which may clinch the deal for him...but as much as I don't like McCain as a candidate (I whole heartedly admire him for his life accomplishments and time as a POW in Vietnam)...I am having a hard time endorsing the other team just because I am tired of the current predicament of our country - politics aside.

Has anyone watched the world news, watched or listened to the BBC? Gas is almost twice what we pay in Europe right now. A lot of what we are seeing today has not much to do with America, and our politics. There are developing nations and country's out there (can anyone say India or China) that are growing in demand for the same resources - natural (oil and coal), refined (concrete and steel), and finished products that 5 or even 10 years ago the US of A was the leading purchaser of. We are no longer the head honcho in the world economy guys! We are used to our ways as a country, and we are no longer getting the deal on sweet crude like we once were. The Saudi's are selling their product to the highest bidder (and not increasing production), Iran is still a nation we won't deal with, Iraq is still a mess (oil production is way off from before we took over in 2003), and no new drilling of any significance has occured in North America. My brother-in-law lives in Edmonton, AB. They are excavating and refining the Alberta Oil Sands in his neck of the woods. It takes a lot to make this into a usable product, but it works. The economy in Alberta is crazy nuts as a result. He was telling Michelle this past week that a ranch home - 3 bedrooms, 2 baths (very similar to what we have) that is a run down fixer upper, is now going for over $350K in a bad neighborhood in Edmonton. 5 years ago this was selling for just over $125k. That's crazy. And they still pay over $1 CAN / Liter for gas, none of which is imported from the Middle East. 4 liters is equivalent to a gallon. You do the math. As the price of gas goes up, everything, I repeat everything follows. Almost 100% of what we buy and consume is shipped, transported, or cultivated with a machine that runs on gas or diesel. So we are trying to come up with alternate fuel, i.e. corn based ethenol. The results are not very positive. Yes it is a renewable fuel, but at a cost. Farmers have switched over thousands of acres they previously planted other crop on, to get on the ethenol band wagon. As a result, the price of "feed has skyrocketed" since most cows , pigs, etc. feed on corn. From the reports I read, once the corn boom passes, farmers will be left with fields dedicated to corn production, without a buyer...and fields that are screwed up from planting and fertilizing for corn.

Sorry to go global and gassy on you...it's just something I read about every day.

Back to the thread topic:
I too would like to not vote...but what does this say about myself as a citizen and our country - and the 230+ years we have had this right (well at least for white males...another topic another time). Many people are still fighting for this right around the world, and many Americans have never registered and probably couldn't tell you who is even running this year for president. Makes me laugh, if not sick...Ever watch Jay Leno when he does the street interviews...OMG!?!?!?

Enough said. I say - speak your mind, get your facts straight, stand up for what you believe, and let GOD sort out the rest...

For those who missed this on the FFforum...

Lee's comments are precisely the clear voice that is not being heard in this country today.

Because people are fearful of offending and trying to remain politically correct...these kinds of comments are not being heard.

I wish more people would speak up, as he has done, to try to give the frank speech we all need in this country.

Can't keep my mouth shut.............................

I say 2 heck w/the other 2 guys & we vote 4 Scotty 4 Prez. Well said Bullit! Love Bullit. U rock! It is a shame we don't have Ronny Reagan to vote 4. He was one of THE best Presidents we have ever had. The present guy has done a tremendous amount of damage to the Republican Party, not to mention how much damage he has done to our country. Now hopefully I'm done. I need to shut up before I p___ somebody off that I want to remain friends with. Thank you for your kind comments Kerry. BTW My favorite candidates on each side of the fence did not get nominated by their respective parties. I liked Huckaby, but I believe his noval idea, arguably a good idea, 4 a national sales tax did him in. On the other side I won't mention her name. Nuck/Nuck/Nuck BTW II Isn't an "Honest Politician" an oxymron? Kinda like an "Honest Lawyer!" Nuck/Nuck/Nuck

Kerry, I'm with you.

I will have to vote for the guy I agree with 60% of the time, not the guy I agree with 0% of the time. And I would have to say what my Grandpa told me many years ago

If you choose not to vote, you also loose the right to complain about other peoples choices.

Why does the left seem to think Socalism is such a good thing?

Kerry, I'm just guessing here but, we could talk politics for hours, but we would be on the same side of the table.

The important point here is that every person has a side of the fence to support...based on their own morals, personal values, and vision for our country....

Not vacillate depending on which way the wind...or public opinion...blows.

Craig....I think we would find each of us shoulder to shoulder...on the same side of the fence...

Dave...I agree with you that Ronnie was the last good leader we have had.

GW's dad could lead...but made too many mistakes and thought his reelection was sewn up.

Clinton ties Nixon for the worst presidents of our lifetime and GW dropped the ball fiscally and never regained control because he didn't want to offend anyone... The fate of trying to reach across the isle and be politically correct in your decisions... rather than leading when doing what is right is unpopular or politically risky.

And yes... a honest politician is an oxymoron in our country today. But it doesn't have to be that way...

I had hopes for Thompson...and made the first and only contribution to his election....but he did not have the fire in his belly necessary to be successful.

As someone suggested earlier...we don't have quality candidates to choose from.
