Yep - 27 degrees and lots of sun. Couldn't resist. Buttoned up with ski jacket, hood and gloves. No problem. Was out for about an hour and a half. Big fun. A great way to start the year. I will probably go out again tomorrow. Cheers - Gateway Cobra Club. Happy New Year.

Cool

Not much drivin' but it was good to get out and to see Tom and Andy. Mark, thanks for pulling this together - good to see you. Keep the month of Feb open for our next "fair weather" drive

If you need to wear two stocking caps, is it too cold to go for a ride?

Found another undiscovered cruising road today South/East of Cherokee Pass...Outstanding smooth new pavement, no traffic, and beautiful scenery.

And it connects to the route of our last cruise that we didn't have time to drive.

I smell a Spring Southern Cruise....

Boy does a spring Southern Cruise sound good right now. Thanks Mark & Paul for stopping by yesterday. It was great to see you guys and your stunning machines out in the bright sun once again :).

So, it was a warm day today for January. I caught up at work, got my Christmas lights down and packed away, then looked at the car. I have been kind of down lately about the car knowing I need to do some work on it and get it ready for Spring track days. I hopped in, it started right up with a familiar sound and feel again. After the choke came off, I was off for a short ride on to 364. Mmmm, feels good being in the seat again I thought. Pulled up next to a Mustang with 4 teens in it, and the looks on their faces let me know that, it still looks cool, even with me in it  I gave them what they wanted to hear with a mild acceleration on 94 with the exhaust note bouncing off the concrete walls. Yeeeaaahhh, that's what I'm talkin' about. Had to wait until the oil temp came up before really getting on it. So, on to 364 I went for a nice 60mph cruise to warm it up. Exit off at Maryland Heights Expressway and go underneath my favorite overpass where I accelerate through just to feel the exhaust bouncing off all the concrete. Aarrggh, someone in front of me on the on ramp. Once on the highway, the sight of cars speeding up to catch up to me, and slow down to see what the he$$?! And the boyfriend with his girlfriend driving taking video as I pass, slightly above the speed limit (I know a lawyer :D ) oh crap, catch my cap as it almost flies off, then exit off the highway to take it easy back to the house.

Ahhhh, now I remember why I bought this car and love the feel of it. I immediately came in and began looking at track dates. I think I'm all better now, going out to wipe it down and make a few quick checks before putting the cover on it.

Hope you enjoyed my ride as much as I did. Get out there and drive!

New Year's Day Cruise

About 60 cars made the cruise from Fenton to Ehtel's in O'Fallon on New Year's day. Tom and I took the Cobra. Good times.

Mark, sorry I missed your call the other day. That was my wife's cell phone number and she does not check messages very often.

Happy New Year to all.

Clyde

Clyde - I would have loved to go on that cruise. I actually had a phone call from someone wanting to go on a cruise that day. How can I find out more info about these get togethers?

Tim - That's the spirit. Well put.

Mark,

It might be a good idea if we get on the mailing list for local club's newsletters. I found out about the run from the St. Louis Street Rod Association. This cruise is an annual event. I will get the information to you before next year's run.

Guys,

Wish I could partake in the fun, but between family events, work, and Brendan's hockey schedule, it seems I barely have enough time to breathe lately. Luckily I was able to work on the car and fire it up last week..Planned on taking it out Friday, but the weather kind of got in the way. Next up for us its 4 practices this week and next, then off to Indy for a tournament. I'm going to try to visit the Brickyard if we have time. We're having fun, but I can't wait until the season is over in March. I hope to sneak in a couple of runs in order to get the final break in miles on the car, so I can be ready to roll by the end of March.

BTW, the garage door opener bit the dust today (after 11 yrs). Pretty cool failure if I say so myself. Looks like work on the car gets delayed yet again :mad:

My opener did the exact same thing on Thursday. It's one of those things you take for granted every day. And when it's not working - you can't live with out it. I went right out and got a new one with the battery back up for when the power goes out. Fancy. 3 hour install plus the programming. Went flawless. No blood. Nothing broken. Works great. No, I won't help you with yours!:)

Sounds fun Tim.
For the time being, I'll just have to be satisfied with living precariously through your driving experiences!

Nothing like a ride to lift the spirits! :D

Twenty seven degrees?!?!??!?! I'm starting to think a couple of you gents need some serious help!! I at least waited until in was in the mid 30's !!!!!:p

That may have been my last ride.....with that engine. Keith Craft is building a 408w for me and should be here in about six weeks. I'll be lookin for some warmer weather for the install. Yes, I have one of those cold man caves!!

Some people are dumb or numb enough to go out in the teens. It makes a BIG difference with the sun on you. Late at night is downright cold. Sounds like that will be a nice new engine for the car too. I can't wait to get out and drive again.
