Wow, how lazy would you have to be, assuming you had legs and could walk, if not, then this seems like a solution for them as well as people that are paralyzed from the waste down.

Think how far things have come. My grandpa (who is still living) rode a horse to school. Technology amazes me, even I don't find some of it practical.

Makes you wonder what you will see in your lifetime, eh? A few things that have happened so far in my lifetime:

Home computers
Home microwaves or radarranges as they were once called
Cell phones

What others can you think of?

Black and white TVs were the standard when we were kids. - Now Flat screen 3D
HiFi stereo counsels were a piece of living room furniture. -Now MP3 players the size of your thumb.
We landed on the moon with the computer power of on of today's calculators.

What will we see in our lifetime?
I WANT FLYING CARS LIKE WE WERE PROMISED !

Coffee makers, radial tires, cures for some forms of cancer (mine :)), electric fuel pumps, digital cameras, smart bombs, laser pointers, laser guided weapons and so much more. I guess cell phones kind of started as car phones. In 1976 my friend David who sold real estate on the side had a phone in his car. The equipment took up half of the trunk of his Cutlass and he had to pick up the hand set and ask the mobile operator to connect him with the number he wanted to call. It seemed so cool and space age at the time but looking back it was terribly archaic and cost him 5-7 bucks every time he made a call.

How about this.

When we were in school - the teacher handed out mimeographs. Remember that smell? Then copiers were more economical. Then laser printers. Fax machines rose in popularity. Now, a document arrives via e-mail, but if you're really slick you get it on your phone or Ipad and reply the same way.

I remember the first credit cards. That was a big deal. Now, if you don't use a debit card you must be some sort of caveman. Plus, don't forget about on-line banking.

Aren't we becoming a paperless, cashless society?

What will see in our lifetime - how about this one - more and more DNA based products specifically designed for you personally. As we continue to decode DNA we will see products both useful and deadly, liberating and miraculous, and some morally and ethically repugnant. DNA gents is the future. You'll be able to grow replacement parts for yourself, design your kids, track you crimes, cure diseases, etc. Then there will be a whole host of darker DNA uses that will shake our world. BioTech is what moves us out of the industrial revolution of the 20th century and the information age that we are in now. ---That is if we make it past December 21st 2012.:D

While at Barrett Jackson on Tuesday there was a gentleman in a 2 wheeled wheel chair similar to a segway that was getting alot of attention .It would handle just about any surface and STAIRS too! Pretty amazing.
