Does everyone agree that "HiJacking Threads" is an "evil" that must be stopped? I personally don't mind if anyone "HiJacks" one of my threads. It doesn't bother me in the least bit. I totally understand that not everyone feels the same way I do. May I ask those who do take offense @ the "HiJacking" of a thread, why? Maybe it's obvious to you, but I fail see to see the "big crime" involved in what I perceive to be harmless. Am I dense? Help out here anyone if you care to. BTW Feel free to HiJack this thread if you want to. :) BTW II Do not construe this post to mean that I intend to "HiJack Threads."

I hope you're kidding

From Wikipedia:

Thread hijacking in internet forum communication is the act of steering a discussion off-topic by discussing a subject entirely unrelated to the subject at hand.

While this can be an intentional act of trolling, it is often accidental - caused by participants in the discussion responding to a throwaway remark, thus taking the thread off at a tangent to the original subject matter. The results often provoke a feeling of resentment from the author of the original post.

It's the electronic form of interrupting a conversation - just bad manners.

On this forum, example - as we are trying to say line up a cruise, establish meeting times or other details - an interrupted thread is needless, and may cause someone to miss a meet-up. Example - if we are discussing some club business, an interrupted thread can and will delay or derail that business.

The only exception to that rule is in THE LOUNGE - where that rule is suspended.

All clear ???

Very Clear

Thank You very much for your clarification Oh Wise & omnicient one. & BTW Thank You for Hijacking this thread & keeping things light. :D:D:D Ya know ya could drive Lisa to Ft. Lauderdale to get on the ship there. :)

What she really wants is a new Mustang Roush Stage 3 Convertible automatic trans - black w/silver stripes - my kinda girl !

HIJack Threads

David,
I am one who takes great offense to hijacked threads.

I use the internet quite a bit to research items, this forum included. Nothing I dislike more is to post a request for help and have three "off-topic" replies to it. Once that occurs, others who may have the information I am looking generally won't post to the thread. It becomes useless and I end up without any information.

My attitude is keep those posts in the "Lounge" and keep the technical and information areas clean.

My 2c

Paul

Hijacked Threads...

I agree with Paul 100% on this issue.

As much as this forum is used for social exchange, there are specific areas for technical subjects important to those of us building our cars.

Why have dedicated threads to multiple subjects if people can...at a whim... redirect the conversation off topic? Otherwise one big thread where any subject could be discussed would suffice.

I also agree with Mark's comment that it is the same as interrupting a conversation. It shows a lack of respect for the person starting the thread and only adds to the frustration between those who start a thread and those who indiscriminately hijack the thread.

The lounge should remain the only area where hijacked threads are tolerated.

If a technical or build thread reminds you of an unrelated comment you want to make then I would suggest posting a "see comment re: "XXXXX" in lounge"...and leave the original thread on topic. Then start a new thread in the lounge with your comments.

Thread HiJacking

Thank You Paul & Kerry for your inciteful commentary & sheding a different light & perspective on the subject of thread hijacking. I will take your opinions to heart & in the future do my best not to upset or disturb anyone on the forum. BTW Hey Mark doesn't Lisa/Big Block Girl have the color combo for her stang backwards? :) Shouldn't it be silver w/Blk stripes? :)

I'm glad I crack U Up U NUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My comments directed to Paul & Kerry were in all sincerety meant to be serious. But U on the other hand crack me up. :D:D:D:D

No one has yet to answer on of the first questions asked, so I guess I will bite. Yes Oddball you are dense:D:D.

OMG U Crack Me UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The real question is: Am I dense in the right place?????????:D:eek::D

Did you know the Razorbacks are playing the Alabama Crimson Tide today? Or Mizzou is playing that powerhouse from the NE, Buffalo? This is in the lounge, right?

Good Hijack

Yeah we can let er rip in the forum w/o fear of the hijack police! Will the hogs beat the tide in your opinion?

Uh, no. But, here's my argument FOR the hawgs to be rated at 2-0 as opposed to Mizzou. Arkansas has had two come from behind victories to start the season. I think this shows the character of the team. In the next 3 weeks, Arkansas plays #7 Alabama, #3 Texas and #10 Auburn. While Mizzou plays Nebraska Oklahoma State and #3 Texas. Arkansas will probably be 2 and 3 after this run, but they aren't playing cupcakes like Mizzou.

Since it's the lounge...

Oh let me go in order.

Dave - Not to disappoint, but from what Mike D has inferred, no you're not dense in the right places.

Mark - Dense doesn't work if you're in water. I sink like a stone. Never have been able to just float.:p

H/W - Oh let's try to beat down the Tigers since they finally have a decent program. Everyone was laughing at "Woody's WheelChair" days, but let them be ranked and watch the people come out of the woodwork to beat them down.

An as you all know me by now, you also know this was all said tongue-in-cheek. Blast away!;):D

Not trying to beat them down, but most any team could be 3-0 with the schedule they have played so far, just stating the facts man.
