For those of you who have run the gauntlet in Jeff City to get your cars registered...I need some information regarding notarized receipts.

I understand the need to have a notarized bill of sale from a private party for major items...

However.....If a major USED item such as a transmission, engine or rear end were purchased from a retail automotive business...did their normal retail receipt suffice ...or did have to be notarized as well?

Or...could a retail receipt by itself be deemed acceptable to the Dept of Revenue?

All personal experience is appreciated...

Thanks.

Sorry Kerry, I don't have any experience with this. Had hoped Rich, Keith, Mark P, Paul or someone would have responded..... Come on guys, this is why we have this forum to help others out!

Kerry, I have Stuck this thread so it appears at the top...maybe that will garner some attention.

EDIT - I have texted Paul, Mark, Rich and Keith to visit this thread.

All my major parts came from a single car, so mine were all notarized. Have no answer for individual parts.

x2 Keith, all my major parts came from a car that I had a notorized bill-of-sale, I can't help there either.
I wouldn't believe a notorized receipt is necessary

I will say "ONLY give them what they ASK for".

I had a notarized bill of sale for my used engine block and a notarized receipt for my new transmission. Jeff City didn't seem to indicate one way or the other if it was required. The supplying firm should be able to give you a notarized receipt. All it does is state that it is a "true" receipt. My transmission supplier questioned the practice but complied anyway.

Sorry late to reply. I bought and engine on eBay, I didn't have a notarized receipt, and had no trouble.

Thanks again for the input...I received a notarized bill of sale so I should be GTG.

Only problem....my Suburban and trailer were rear ended by an 18 wheeler when we were pulling off of Westbound 44 in Joplin.
Minor damage to my trailer...but the truck had an amazing amount of damage....considering the low speed involved.

I think I did much better than the new truck....given the circumstances.
