So, I start going over the car tonight for Supercruise and found my rear plate bracket broken in two. Now, I'm pretty sure I can 'repair' the bracket, any suggestions for a more permanent fix?

Last year at run n gun my licens brkt broke off on the start finish line. I simply took a straight stock of alum, rounded the edges , cut to length, and used 2 nylon spacers ,drilled and mounted. Sturdy, cheep and looks good.

Exactly what I'm doin'. Found a piece of bar stock I had, have it cut and drilled, headed to Ace in the morning to get the spacers. Thanks Randy!

Thanks for the offer Mike, I think I will like this way better anyway, will be sturdy and not vibrate as much.

FFR has improved that piece, since your's was made. Tom and I had a conversation on that this weekend. They sell them pretty cheap.

I used aluminum stock pretty much just like Randy explained. I drilled and tapped it so I could use short screws to mount the plate and stay away from the paint. I put high density foam on the rear bottom of the plate to keep it from vibrating and stressing the mount.

Tom, does the foam rub against your trunk then? Does it wear on your paint?

The foam does rest on the paint but there is enough pressure that it does not rub and hurt it. I take the plate off once or twice a year to wax under it and have never found any damage. Doesn't matter anyway, it's covered by the plate :D.
