Help me decide - Diesel or not?

The 5.3 L is beyond it's performance capability without major enhancement - like the STS turbo system. I like Tim's truck and the 5K or so investment in a turbo build up may just do the trick. BTW - it will be at least 5K because of the tune and various upgrades over the stock universal system.

Market conditions - used car prices are up - especially SUVs. New car incentives are large right now - great time to buy new. That said 45 to 65 K for a new rig is tough to justify.

My .02 is that the cheapest solution is the turbo. That way he'll have no new payments. The drawback is that he won't really know the performance until he's already spent the money.

Either way it's a tough call. I love NEW cars - but Tim's truck is very nice.

So, I was just told two choices by the Boss - keep the truck, as is with no improvements or buy a new truck......  :D Soooo, guess I will start looking again. It's been decided for me :D

EXCELLENT choice Tim. There nothing wrong with a Chevy truck. Best trans of the diesel trucks.

Rick:)

Then give me the $12,000 difference so I don't have to

Nice. I don't like his policies either, but my money went to pay for part of that too. May as well get something out of it. 12K is 12K. Good luck. That's a big work truck.

Tim, From everything I've heard you really don't want the 6.4 turbo diesel in the Ford. Stick with the Chevy.

Rick:)

I hate to say it

don't buy a newer Ford diesel. I am a ford guy, but my brother in law gets a new one every 3-4 years and has had more problems than I ever had with my 2000 7.3 f250. I don't like GM so I'd buy a dodge. Can't believe I said that.

Not a Dodge either. They filed bankruptcy and screwed all of their creditors and stockholders out of money while the management and unions came out smelling like roses.

Buy a Toyota Tundra.

Steve
PS: A friend has a brand new F-350 diesel that runs quite and he's thrilled with it.

Big Question

Tim
The big question. Have you had the loaded trailer behind it? Assuming you did since you say it is in the driveway.

Results or opinions? How did it compare to the Avalanche?

Paul

Not yet, putting the clutch cable in tomorrow and will hook up the trailer Saturday and see.
