Well, it's confirmed, Blago's been Impeeched. Good riddance. And I don't even live in the State of Illinois and I still feel this way.

I think the swearing in for Quinn should go something like this:

"I, state your name, do solemnly swear, that I will uphold the constitution of the State of Illinois. I have not made improper under the table requests for lobbying payoffs (yet), I have not tried to sell any unfilled or open seats for the House of Rep. or Senate to the highest bidder (yet)..."

Does anyone see the Chicago/Illinois politics ever changing?

Yep - let's be real - Hot Rod was just too gregarious - he got caught. Although, I'm sure there are many political figures that take the idea of public service to heart - there are too too many that are in politics to serve themselves - and we'll never catch them on tape like the FBI did to Hot Rod.

Changing the way political campaigns are financed with "contributions" would be a start, but even then there is still going to be influence peddling & corruption. BTW I don't think Blago was too "gregarious," just arrogant perhaps beyond our comprehension. In the end it was arrogance that did him in when he thumbed his nose at the Feds. GOING, GOING, BLA-GONE & I SAY BLA-GOOD RIDANCE.

What amazed me was his trip to Springfield at the 11th hour....how was he able to find his way to the Capitol building in Spfld??? he must have had Rivaldo Map Quest it for him.
I would like to know how much he has in his campaign coffers now....rumor has it that he spent 1 to 1/2 mil(from his campaign fund) so far on legal help and his attorneys decided that would not represent him in Springfield.I would be pissed if I had contributed(and I did not) and he is blowing it. Our little town has been drug into this fiasco...the Bonan's that have been mentioned as large contributors are from here. The 30 yr old son of one of them was appointed to the SIUC board....not what I want to see for my alma mater.

Dave you are just a pup..I got an Associates Degree in auto tech in '65. Finished my Bachelors in '70(post sec ed) after doing my thing for the govt....LBJ was correct, everyone will be going to Nam.

Yeah

You're the big dog Saluki & I'm the little pup Saluki. :D Hey thanks for the pics of Dennis's 56 Vette. It looks oh so sweet. I'm like so ready to drive down to see you guys & do some So. IL. cruisin. Love Garden of the Gods, Cave-in Rock, Giant City, Fern Cliff, skinny dippin in the strip pits, etc.

We didn't get to do much cruisin last summer/fall. We like to take off on Sunday morning, get some breakfast and just drive. We had planned to do a So Il winery tour but could never get it coordinated...maybe in the spring and you could join us. I dont know vettes very well so I cant explain the FI flags...but I do remember '57 was the first year it was available in the Chevy cars.
Don't know about the skinny dipping in the pits at my age, you know wrinkles and shrinkage.

So. IL. wine tour sounds like fun. My in-laws live in Hurst just north of Carbondale. Met my wife while going to Southern. Used to skinny dip in the pits around Carterville back in the old days when I was toned, buffed & ripped. :D Now I'm old saggy & droopy.:rolleyes::p BTW That stuff I did back in old days I don't do that anymore. My wife cured me of my old vices. God bless her sole. I'm not like that anymore. I'm really not like that anymore. Ever see Clint Eastwood in "The Unforgiven?" Love that movie.

Seems like we hijacked this thread...oh well.
Maybe the club would be interested in the Wine tour as an event.
Let me know..and I would work with the tourism people to maybe get some news coverage for the club.
