either a policeman getting ready to give you a coupon and i hope not a stream of oil - i pumped out 5 quarts out of 8 when i fired mine up saturday to go to daves - seam at top of filter gave. 1 of those new 5 x filters suspect to much restriction in filter with oil cold nice stains on driveway

I had just passed an intersection with a truck at the intersection so the truck lights were shining on me and i caught a glimpse of the trunk flopping in the air from 1 hinge and i mean straight up which is quite a sight at speed. I stopped and set trunk back in place and drove the 2 miles home very slowly, then about 1/4 mile from home started wondering if the big bag of tools i carry that weigh around 100 lbs were still in the trunk. As soon as i got in my driveway i stopped and cked and to my horror they were not. My wife had just walked out to the shop to see if car was running ok as i was jumping into the jeep , i quickly explained to her the situation and she jumped in with her robe and nightshirt on. All i could think about was if the tools might cause a bad accident as it is pretty large or if it broke open and scattered. Also i had the tool box set up for cobra and would be hard to figure out again. Well luckily we found the tool bag still intact along the road. The bad thing is that 1 hinge pin had already came out and i threaded in a 5 mm allen in its place and intended to do the same with the other, but with the running problem i had put it on back burner. Ck your ffr trunk hinge pins!!!!!!! There were a few scratches but all minor and since i crashed at run n gun i will be repainting car this winter anyway

Randy,
Glad to hear that the bad news was not as bad as I thought it might be. I was thinking white "death smoke" like I had last June . I staked both of my hinge pins after having one almost come out a few years back. Thanks for the warning and reminder.

Glad to see all ok with just minor scratches. 1 month ago i had to dodge a weedeater laying out on 270- that would eat the nose pretty good. dam them lawncare guys

Tom, when you say "staked" do you just take a punch and flare the end or something? Randy, thought it was going to be much worse, :) What was the problem you found?

I used a small, very sharp chisel to "ding" both sides of each pin. Done carefully, you don't even notice it.

Thank goodness it was not as bad as we all expected Randy & thank goodness you were able to get your tools back. :)

The trouble codes i had been getting seemed power related to dist, tach, etc so i thought it was a power supply problem ,CAR SEEMED LIKE IT WOULD MOMENTARY DIE so i replaced switch and relays but did not help. Was about to start cking all wires and connectors one by one , but decided to run codes one more time while running engine and got a new code for low voltage on mass air i think it was called. Unplugged mass air and connector seemed to come off normal and cleaned good and plugged back on but seemed like it went on farther. The clip is on the bottom and cannot see it and connector is close to harness so i was not sure. I had pushed on all connectors before at least twice including the mass air but appearently not hard enough. Test drove and it ran great. Its hell getting old!!!!!! What started bothering me was i could make it do it at a narrow rpm range . Anyway took for 100 mile drive today and ran good, but still need to do a little tuneing.

randy ford had some problems with the connector for the mass air flow sensor - it thats the case you can purchase these connectors at your local dealer
