I know many of you are not into competition, but the test and tune on Saturday would be a great way to build confidence in your cars handling. This is a chance to drive it hard on a perfectly safe track with no chance of destroying your car. If you screw up, there is nothing to hit but cones! The best part is you can play with ride heights, tire pressures to find that sweet spot for your car. They are estimating 15-20 runs for each car. I am planning on attending in the coupe and hope to have some of you join me. Anyone who just wants a ride, let me know as the coupe has an empty right seat!

I'd like to learn a little more about this and coming to it. But there isn't any times or dates on the STL-SCCA site that I can find.

They do show a solo event on Sunday, Jun 13th. Is that related? I know where Gateway is so that isn't an issue but times, etc, isn't too well outlined. I did find the Solo page where the event is at least listed but again, no times.

Went to the registration page where is shows registration closes at 12AM.

? ? ?

I've joined SCCA and would like to learn more about AutoCross but the organization seems VERY loosely formed. Have I just not found the core yet?

Paul

Paul the SCCA is definately grassroots, but it usually works pretty well. I typically show up at 7:30 to 8. Sometimes they are almost ready by then for tech and sometimes they are just getting there themselves. By pre-registering the process goes quick. I plan to show at a little before 8, go straight to registration, put numbers on car (I am still using blue painters tape), go to tech, park car and go walk course, go to drivers meeting, get work assignment. Have fun the rest of the day! When there is down time, just think of it as a car show. Bring sunscreen, snacks, and lots of cold water.

I am looking forward to seeing some of you there saturday. It will give me the motivation to step up my game a little. Saturday is 15 or more runs for fun and education, Sunday is 3-5 runs of competition for points. If you run saturday you can compare your times to mine and that will give you some idea where you stack up against others. Here is how I did in XP class last event I ran: http://www.stlsolo.org/sites/default/files/event3_fin.htm

Remeber registration ends today for saturday's test and tune!

I think Saturday will be similar to the normal scheduale, but slightly less rigid.

Boy did I screw up!!! I just went to register and it actually closed on wednesday night at midnight. Paul you were right about the time. I am retired military and don't really understand the concept of 12am as my clock starts over at 0000.

I have a shout out to see if they will still let us in. Sorry for all the hype to then get the deadline wrong.

Actually looks like they screwed up the deadline setting and it was supposed to be midnight tonight. The chief of registration has fixed the problem so go register!:) They are making a special offer for a couple of late comers from the Gateway Cobra Club, and will allow last minute entrants on Saturday by 07:30. They would love to see a bunch of cobras tearing up the track.

Register by midnight thursday, June 10th

Here is what she said:
"If you have one or two people who want to come out Saturday and register onsite, I will allow it but they must be there by 7:30 am at the latest so i can work them into the schedule. Also payments will be check or cash only so make sure they know!"

How long does it last? If I come, I will need to leave after lunch, gotta get ready for vacation.

Typically it is all day, but not sure if you could leave early. I will see if I can get an answer.

Here is the info I received from April. Looks like you only have to work 1 hour out of the day. I currently work 11-12 so would swap with you if you need me to so you could drive 9-11, work 11-12 and leave anytime after 12. Once you have worked they normally could care less what you do. If she assigns you a later work hour I would cover it for you if the swap does not work.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you who received these details previously, please note we've made some changes, per several recommendations, to cut back on workers and allow more time for drivers to work on their vehicles. If all goes as planned, everyone will work one hour and have the rest of the time to work on their cars and drive.

June 12, 2010 St. Louis Region Solo Test 'n Tune

First off, thanks for signing up to come out and play with us this Saturday at our first Test 'n Tune of the year. We'd like to explain in advance the format we plan to run and provide you (hopefully) with all of the information you'll need to help us make it successful!

We will begin the day similar to a regular event with set up beginning between 6 & 6:30 am. Check-in (typically registration) will open by 6:30 and remain open until 8. Anyone not having a valid SCCA membership will need to fill out a weekend membership form and pay $15 by cash or check. (NOTE: Credit cards will not be accepted on Saturday.) Your weekend membership will still be valid for Sunday's event so make sure you hold onto your pink copy and bring it back on Sunday! Tech will be available until 8:10 with reviews available for the whole event. The course will be open for walking as soon as it is set up (target of 7:30). We want to have the first car off at 9am.

We plan to have each person sign up for a one hour assignment and have the rest of the day to drive and work the cars. We'll break for lunch about noonish then get back to it. We'll need the following workers PER HOUR:
3 corner workers
1 starter
1 grid worker
1 gate worker (must be a SCCA member)
We plan to do "hot" worker changeovers every hour (that means we will signal, possibly have a car honk, every hour and new workers will relieve existing workers while still running cars)

Waves Corporation will be sponsoring a pizza lunch during our break but you should plan to bring or acquire your own drinks.

The schedule is subject to minor adjustments to allow for maximum seat time, but hopefully this answers a lot of your basic questions. We are still open to suggestions for improvements. Below is the current work assignment list for the day:

Well, I waited too long to register. Was really indecisive about this as I have so much to do but they are a lot of little things to do before Monday that I just didn't know about coming. Don't be surprised to see me in the morning. You did say she would accept registrations on site, right? Sorry.

Yes she said she would accept some limited late comers. She wants you there by 730 to ensure she has time to work you in.

Mike, sorry I didn't make it today. Just too much to catch up at work before I go. Keep posting the events, I will make one.

Cool videos. Loved the laugh at the end of the run where you about spun out. Lot's O' Fun. Looked like a good time until you started slipping.
