All of you are correct actually. I even heard that because of lower usage here in the USA that there is actually a SURPLUS of gasoline and we are selling our gas overseas. I know that we are all free-market capitalists here, but this just seems like rape. Other that turning in record profits for oil companies, I can see no reason why gas prices should be so very high.
There's a lot of political angles in this discussion and a degree in economics wouldn't hurt either. But, I wasn't posting to get into all of that really. Truthfully, as gas prices rise (and they will) my activities will have to be curtailed. Throwing $100 bucks out the window on a simple cruise day will hurt. Filling up the SUV for $110 a tank (X5) on road trips will hurt.
Vote the way you want in November, but I'm not sure any of these folks can do to very much about it anytime soon. Over the long haul, maybe something can be done. But, I'll bet we witness $5 a gallon gas this summer here in the Midwest - and that's going to be painful.
