Paid 4.18 today for premium - lordy. "They" are talking about $5 gas now.

Drill Baby Drill.

Our current congress won't allow that. it is in their best interest to have gas high. Blame the rich people and push the green agenda. My opinion of course, but Obama said as much when he came into the office.

I didn't vote for him, but average price of gas was 3.29 in 2008, average price now is 3.59. yeah, it's all his fault, all by himself.....right.

On Friday I sold enough trans ocean stock (RIG) to pay for the next 3-4 years of these fuel prices out of the profits. Wish I had bought more when it was $40 per share a few months ago.

If you can't beat em then profit off them!

Rich, check out the table below. Equate the years to the President in office.....which pipeline are you speaking of?

1980 $1.22
1985 $1.96
1990 $1.22
1995 $1.21
2000 $1.56
2001 $1.53
2002 $1.44
2003 $1.64
2004 $1.92
2005 $2.34
2006 $2.63
2007 $2.85
2008 $3.32
2009 $2.40

Never said it was him alone. Congress won't allow it, but he's the one that said he thought high gas prices would help his green initiative. Congress has been putting the brakes on in country drilling for years. I just feel if we would be able to utilize more of our natural resources, then the rest of the oil producers would lower their costs. Supply and demad theory. Demand ins't going to decrease, but if we as a country increase the supply, then the price will go down. In the mean time fund research into alternative fuels. I just think our country can do better when we are more self sufficient. Gas was in the 3 dollar range during the Bush era too during 2006, but it was down about $1.89 when Obama took off.

Here's a good video.

Ultimately I just want our Congress and goverement to get out of the way of our country being more independent. And that is for both sides of the fence. High gas prices KILLs our economy.

All of you are correct actually. I even heard that because of lower usage here in the USA that there is actually a SURPLUS of gasoline and we are selling our gas overseas. I know that we are all free-market capitalists here, but this just seems like rape. Other that turning in record profits for oil companies, I can see no reason why gas prices should be so very high.

There's a lot of political angles in this discussion and a degree in economics wouldn't hurt either. But, I wasn't posting to get into all of that really. Truthfully, as gas prices rise (and they will) my activities will have to be curtailed. Throwing $100 bucks out the window on a simple cruise day will hurt. Filling up the SUV for $110 a tank (X5) on road trips will hurt.

Vote the way you want in November, but I'm not sure any of these folks can do to very much about it anytime soon. Over the long haul, maybe something can be done. But, I'll bet we witness $5 a gallon gas this summer here in the Midwest - and that's going to be painful.

Couldn't agree more Mark. It cuts into everyone's "extra" money and thus kills the economy.
