Garage in floor lifts

Careful

Tim
The industry has struggled with these for years. The concept is great. The problem is they don't work.

They have considerable problems with synchronization, keeping both sides together and level. Every company I know has tried it and now one continues production after a short introduction.

If you want to go this way, be prepared for major service issues.

We tore three of them out of the Honda R&D facility in Maryville. I know a dealer in Eureka, IL that will give you his if you come take them out. They just drive over them - don't use them anymore.

For Honda, we fabricated a special superstructure/pit that allows a flush floor and they remove the covers when they want to use the lift. $15,000 each.

Again the problem is the concept is great.

So, what were you telling me about last night? Thought these were it.

Close but no cigar

Sorry, Grasshopper. Look at this one:

Mid Rise Revolution Lift by Rotary Lift

This one has a one piece platform that is mechanically tied together to keep the two sides the same height as it goes up and down

Best Bet

This is your best choice:

Smart Lift

Goes to full rise, all of underside is open for service. Takes up the least amount of floor space. Downside is it costs about $7500 installed.

And our Paul Proefrock discount is included in that $7,500? :D :p

Check this out - look at the comments.
Builder states - cost under $700 - plus your labor.
Looks neat - unless you have to work on the transmission.

That is the same concept we were discussing using the mid-rise lift. It gives you a little more flexibility than the lift table since the top is more open, allowing better access. The recess would be around 3 1/2" deep. Full rise would put the car about 4' in the air.

Cost for a mid rise is going to be in the $1600 range and you can find used ones for around $1000. If you don't want to dig a hole, putting a couple 2 x 12" beside the lift will raise our cars enough to clear the arms/superstructure. It is about 3 1/2" - 4" tall

And yes, Tim, for the full blown Smart Lift, $7500 is about the best anyone can do. A car dealer, putting in 30 of them, will pay about $8,000 installed, each  And then you get to run 220VAC for additional cost   :( :D

How many do we need to order?
