I seem to remember a thread about garage hoists; discussions about 2 post
versus 4 post, brand names, etc but I did a search for "garage hoists" and found nothing. Was I in the wrong forum (champagne room) when I searched or does that matter? Anyone? Anyone?

Try searching for "lifts". A bunch of entries are returned.

Call me

Kent,
I designed, engineered and sold lifts in my career - 46 yrs worth. Be happy to help with questions.

Still have some connections to get good deals or used equipment

Paul

Thanks Paul. I'll search "lifts", read what has already been said and then talk with you. I'm building a new garage and want to pick out a lift so I know if and
where I need to add strength during the concrete pour.

If you're thinking above-ground style, all are compatible with a 4" thick floor. You won't need reinforcing or thicker.

If it's a new garage, I'd give serious thought to an in-ground style. They are more usable and take up less space.

Plan on a 12' ceiling

Paul

Paul,
I'm doing a 4+" pour so sounds like I won't have to add a thickened slab at the base plates of the lift and my ceiling will be 12. Now I can pick out a lift later after I get the garage underway. I'm thinking a 2 post, 120 volt lift for the Cobra or the Porsche, nothing real heavy. I'll take you up on your offer to locate a used or new one at a good price.
Kent

Paul,
The doors are on and windows are in and I'm ready to order lifts whenever your guy is ready.

Looking good kent. We'll have to come over and christen it. I'm down as wanting a lift as well, but every time I get the funds together, something comes up that needs the funds more. Darn kids and their college.

I'm finally on the backside of kids and college (except for a couple more weddings) so I can indulge a bit more. Of course there is someone, who shall remain nameless, keeping an eye on my spending!!

My friend in Arkansas that we stopped to see on the way back from Supercruise has a Worth model cf1000 2 post lift for sale at $2,500. It is rated at 10,000# and he hasn’t used it, doesn’t need it, and wants it out of the way. It was in the garage when he bought the place. I would be willing to go down and help disassemble and load it if anyone is interested. 40656912-93C3-4064-9EA2-970F8329EFAB.jpg

Wow! Wish I had a bigger garage. Looks like it would fit perfectly in Rich's OR Dan's garage :D

Amazing, this is a subject for the day 10-30-2017....my Son Ian C. is having a LIFT INSTALLED as we speak today....now 4pm...about to go over to his house for a look see....I will take some pics...I think around $2500+ is his cost..will find out...thats delivered unpacked and installed...more to follow...

My sons lift is absolutely perfect....4 post parking lift: $1799 delivered - had a professional installer set it up...8,000 lbs and only uses 110V / Best Buy Auto Equipment - it’s “Auto Lift Car-Park 8P Storage Lift 8K lb 4 Post Parking Lift. This will work nicely in my garage as well, lift Cobra, put M6 below it...there is one issue however....(PAUL P) may be able to offer some advice on MOVING CEILING GARAGE DOOR OPENER....I think it was mentioned it can be repositioned on to a side wall, getting it repositioned will need to be done if I want to proceed.
PAUL WHAT CAN YOU RECOMMEND? Do you know who or what company may be able to perform this task?...curious to know..thanks
