Customer Service / Integrity
I found it very helpful that I cruised the various forums for almost a year before I began serious buying. You learn a lot from the masses - who are the problem suppliers and who you can count on.
Any vendor will have problems, he's dealing with mechanical parts and human perceptions. The key is how well does he handle a problem when it crops up. No one is perfect so the key is how few of complaints get lodged and the complements on how well a problem was resolved.
I saw a pattern to Mr. Forte's operation some time ago. Go thru FForum and look at how many negative posts are listed. Quality, response, shipping, he touched them all, and with amazing regularity - and it was always someone else's fault.
I've studied his site, he has some good ideas. But then I either build it myself or find another vendor. I don't need the potential grief that comes with his products.
Tim gave him the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, he got stung. Mike will learn someday, it isn't the vocal customers but the ones that tell friends about their bad experience and then never come back. For every vocal complainer, there are typically ten silent ones who have relayed their distaste to others, under the radar.
His latest rant will probably put him in a very bad position. I wouldn't be surprised to see him out of business within the year, and it will be everyone's fault but his.
my 2c, plus a little more

ps: and the blatant censorship/editorializing by the forum moderator leaves a bad taste in everyones mouth, even the loyal FF5 guys. But that is a different soap box
