Ok, drove into Kirkwood today to look at a wagon for the dogs, car was running perfect. Went out to leave and WTF ? My gas peddle was hanging like a limp biscuit by the cable. The bracket that attaches to the peddle itself is spot welded. (One little spot) holding that peddle on. Again, wtf ? Took myself and an Audi mechanic to figure that out. Tried a temp fix so I could hobble home but decided better judgement would be to pay god knows what it’s going to be to get towed home.
Anyway, anyone with a Factory Five or with a peddle assy like this, you may want to be proactive and change it out or rework it. What a sorry design.
I think I can put a bracket over it and tie that into the fasteners that attaché it to the firewall area.
Important to note I had no warning on this. Weird.

Waiting for the tow truck continues.

Tom, invest in a AAA Premium program, think it’s $50 year.... best thing you’ll ever buy.... flat bed towing at your desire.... when we break down...I’ve used it three times, never had to pay anything....just an FYI....

Sounds like a plan. I didn’t know a deal like that was out there.
Went down to the trusty Dicky Bubs Farm store and I have something that I believe will work until I can find something more official.

Gents, what specifically are you looking for/using from AAA? There's 3 levels of membership, not sure which one the club has had real world use with.

I think the difference is the tow mileage. I don't remember the specific options, but I've had Plus for 9 years. Been towed twice, both times were less than 5 miles from my house, but I think I'm good for 100 miles(??)

One tip: If you do have to call for a tow, INSIST on a rollback and tell them when you call if they send ANYTHING ELSE, you will send it back! A standard truck cannot fit their lift equipment under our cars.

I HIGHLY recommend AAA for anyone that owns & drives a Cobra. Don't forget, a flat tire may be a tow situation.

Also, most hotels offer a nice AAA discount too!

My 2 cents on AAA Roadside Assistance: 5 stars / I have the PREMIER CARD, and agree with Mark’s comment, MUST BE A FLATBED tow, nothing else considered. I CALL 866-275-4222 (Special# for PREMIER SERVICES)....make an inquiry , you’ll be glad you did... thinking back I think mileage for a tow is 100miles plus....used it twice; broken pin drives, and slave drive failure... and we were in the MIDDLE OF NO WHERE...they showed up as promised...was impressed.... although I have had THREE slave drive failures until we fixed the “clutch pedal travel”, only needed AAA once. A VERY GOOD AND WISE DECISION AND INVESTMENT....
