Great quote from yesterday morning's car shows:

"Showing up with a small block at a performance event is like showing up at a gun fight with a knife" :p

Paul not too many BB's coming out to compete with me. Fastest cars on the track run SB V8's or 4 cylinders. The BB's do look and sound cool though.

Must have been talking about drag racing Paul. Even I will admit that the SB have a handling advantage....something clearly presented at Tail of the Dragon...OR....Mark, Rick and Mike are better driver's than I. :D Mike - you will never see me Autocross with this car. I would be wore out after the first pass. :D

Mike - question for you...I've not been on a track for over a year. I feel like my 'skills' have diminished a bit because of that. Do you feel that way after missing some of your events?

WHAT? OMG , in print on the web.

Yes I do feel that way. My car has been down most of the summer and I was invited to AX a friends TransAm 2 weeks ago. This is a car I have never even sat in, and the very 1st lap is competition. To say the least I had some pre-race jitters and felt very out of my element. He let me drive it across the lot to feel the clutch engagement, brakes , and steering. Since I was the tire warmer I did not even ride along on his 1st lap. Then the flag drops and your knees stop shaking and you just concentrate on pushing this beast to it's limits and try to learn very fast. By half track instincts and skill takes over and you start to learn and adapt to the new equipment. He was great about correcting me and pushing me at the same time and I improved with each lap. On the last lap I went solo and put up a fantastic time. I won the class by 1.5 seconds and had a blast.

Yeah but they were talking about pro mod where you can run what you brung.

Humm....maybe a good option would be a small block (351W) stroked to big block cubic inches (427)??? ;):)

This is what I was thinking so I wouldn't have to change my side badges :p - https://fordperformanceracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=23194

That's a heck of a nice engine, plus you'd be able to change # 8 spark plug maybe. 575 HP at the crank should be about 480 hp at the tire. That's Almost enough. But then you'd be the highest current horsepower in the club. That could start our own mini HP wars. :D I say go for it. We can pull and sell your current 460 to offset the cost this winter. I have a checklist for pulling the engine. :)
