Are you guys hibernating? This forum is dead!

What mods / upgrades / build progress are occurring?
I know Mark was chasing an elusive oil drip, until the garage temp dropped below 20*.

Rich, Rick, & Dan; don't you guys have heaters? (no excuses)
Tom M, how's the build going?
Bob, any progress on the new coupe?
Mike?
Paul?
Anyone else working on their roadster?

What's going on guys? What are your winter plans?

I'm finishing up final riveting of my footboxes this week. Pulled them completely apart, sanded them with 200, 400, 800, then gave them a brushed finish with scotch-brite and coated them with Shark-hide. Kind of a pain, but really happy with the results. Also picked up some polished stainless-steel from Shaprios and fabricated some bitchin' heat shields. Then I made patterns for each panels and installed Damplifier before final silicon and rivets. I also installed Cobra Earls fresh-air vents on each footbox and installed custom pulls on each side in the 2x2 frame. Works very cool, bring on the summer. Just need to finish the wiring the blower switches. Also re-did the nose aluminum (also gave it the brushed aluminum finish) and installed an oil cooler.
Also working on riveting in the interior aluminum and will be installing new Ultra-Spec racing seats and sliders (still waiting for delivery).
Then finishing up the trunk aluminum and drilling the mounting bolts for the Roll Bars.
If I still have time before I send it for paint next month, I'm going to also get my stereo and speakers installed!

Man, I need that garage to warm up SOON! I'm getting behind schedule.

Oh yeah, I also undercoated the entire body with 3 coats of dupli-color truck bed liner in November and all of the exterior aluminum panels (F-Panels, front & rear splash panels, and footbox floors) with the same spray coating. Really gives it a nice finished look in the fender wells. Sprays on easy, but do yourself a favor and buy a pistol-grip that snaps on the spray can, before your hand and fingers cramp up badly. I also recommend heating up the spray in a bath of hot water for consistent texture spraying.

Helppppppppp!
I'm frozen to the garage floor, stuck under the car for 3 days.

I'm waiting for my side pipe to return late next week I hope.
After that re-install, I'll tackle the little oil leak.
Then hoping to do the custom pcv thingy and breather tank install.

If I get real crazy I may do the accusump this winter. Thinking about a trunk install for that.
I may try on my track seat, as it may be too big for me now.
I might have to get a smaller one.
Maybe I'll just add some padding. Don't know.

Lastly, I'll get a new alignment with more assertive settings.

All that assumes I don't blow this thing up in the process.

I also installed a new chrome intake tube (THANKS again Tom!!), much better than the ugly black stock plastic piece. And fabricated an aluminum intake support.

Forgot, I also finally installed my e-brake (still need to cut out the hole for the bezel)

Everything thing looks good MP. Didn't get to work in the garage over Christmas break, have a bad cold, foot of snow had to deal with and last but not least my wife lost her older brother on Fri 1/3/2014:( so its been kind of tough in the Hubbard household this new year, but it should only get better from here.

Weber Project on temp hold

My project for the winter is to redo the entire fuel system, from modifying the tank, new pump, new stainless lines and a new set of Webers :)

I have 98% of all the pieces but now that project is on hold as we go through a MAJOR kitchen remodel.

Sometimes, it is necessary to step away from the car and take a breather. My workspace has been turn into cabinet storage - my build time has be surrendered to "laborer"

But it is fun. :D

Paul

Rick, very sorry for your wife's loss. We attended 2 funerals and a trip to the ER, the week of Christmas. I was also fighting a flu over the weekend, so I feel your pain.
Still plenty of winter left for work in the garage.

Paul, sounds exciting! Webers are SO COOL
Home remodels seem to be part of the give & takes of building a roadster. After my wife agreed to my build a few years ago, we put all new marble counter-tops in the kitchen, a new window, new stove/oven, and new frig! Once that was done, I gutted the bathroom and all new there too.
never ends. Anybody have any recommendations for new hardwood floors??? (yep, they're next!)

Well Mark seems you have sooooo much energy, you can use my shop (yes heated). To work on mine. ;)
just in a funk, don't have the desire to get out there. :(

Who's going to be home Sunday? I may make a grand tour to visit those that will have me so I can take pics and talk cars a little. Maybe that will get me fired up enough to clean the bugs off my car from Supercruise

Tim, Sunday, 52*! I'll be home & working in the garage with a space heater going! Stop by if you're interested.

Rich, as soon as I get mine shipped off to the body shop next month, I'll be over to de-funkify you (a kick in the butt should do it). We need to get your motor situation sorted / swapped out, so you are ready for the Spring! FOCUS!
btw, I made a template for the front wheel Panels and I'm going to pick up some Aluminum this week (Friday morning??). Want me to pick up enough for you too? I won't cut yours until we confirm the templates work on your chassis, but I think they should.

Mark I know, I know. Have totally removed any thought of engine difficulties from my brain. Am really frustrated with how the car runs, and not able to get it sorted out.:  Its so bad I even had the unthinkable thought of a, carburetor. Oh the shame.
Tim you are most welcome to come by, would be nice to visit.
Mark I think I may have enough metal to make the side panels.

Rick sorry to hear of your loss. My wife also lost her 40yo sister to a long battle with brain cancer just before Christmas. My dad has also been very sick so we are in the same boat. It has been a tough fall.

I am still recovering from all that and the holidays, but have several projects that need to get started. I have a new trans to install, cam swap, move the engine a little more, new exhaust to make and some minor stuff all before the race season starts. I just need to find the motivation to get started.

Anybody have any recommendations for new hardwood floors??? (yep, they're next!)

Mark
Give me a call sometime and I'll share my experience and research. I put the floors in my house, have installed numerous Pergo style floors and have also found a pretty good floor refinisher that I am using on this project

Tim, you're welcome to swing by. If the streets are dry, I plan to get my trailer out to pack my car away for a month or so. Need an inflatable heated garage :)

Paul

Ok, sounds like most everyone is available, soooo, anyone up for lunch somewhere Sunday? The Valley, Syberg's?

The dirt from Salem is still clung to mine.Maybe after the new seats arrive will get me motivated to get something done.
I would be up for lunch or flinging some lead somewhere.

Lunch Sunday?

Mark - I get tired just reading about all the work you have already done! Keep up the posts.:)

Rick/Mike - Sorry to hear about your family's losses.

Paul - Look forward to an open house to see the new kitchen and beautiful Webers!!;)

Tim - I could probably make it out of hibernation long enough for lunch Sunday.

Mike P.

Thanks guys.
Mike sorry for your loss tell your wife we will say a prayer for her sister hope your dad starts felling better.
Tim not sure on lunch I'll check with wife, but we should be home maybe even working on car HA!

Rick

Syberg's - Chesterfield Valley - 1:30. Be there or, don't. :D

Keith, I like you're thinking. We need to do that this spring.

Rick - Tell Elizabeth we are thinking of her and family.

Paul - Linda wants to see the progress on your kitchen. Will you be home Sunday?

Home

Tim
We will be here. Bring her by - we are in demolition mode. Will be happy to discuss our progress and show you graphic representations

Paul

Rick, Sorry for her loss. Hope things get better for everyone.

Like most I have big plans but not enough free time. Between Holidays, work, 4 birthdays, a wedding and other ToDo, just cna't find time to get to the garage. I did order a new 7.5 qt fully baffled with windage tray road race pan for the car. It shoud arrive early next week. plan on digging into it then.
