Ok all you guys on the left side of the ditch, keep me posted. 6 days until our gun season opens. Spent plenty of time bow hunting but there is something magical about opening morning of gun season.

I've got the feaver, lets see some picks to get me through the week!

Spent all day on two different stands...but it was much too windy for deer to be moving in the open. We had wind gusts of 30-60 mph in Iron Co... with constantly shifting wind direction. That will keep them spooked until the wind dies down.

Seems to be a LOT of white oak acorns in the woods which will limit their movement in open fields during daylight.

Saw lots of recent sign... but no deer today.

Saw a doe and two yearlings last night after dark but I'm only hunting bucks.

Also found old sign from feral hogs.

Kerry

I've noticed the same thing bow hunting. It's a good year for acorns and hickory nuts.

Here are a couple of pics from my buck I got on Sunday morning. Tall rack with fourteen points. Would of been 17 pts. be he had been doing some fighting. Good luck over on your side of the river. You also Kerry. You were right, Saturday was a waste of time with the howling winds. Sunday up our way was 28 degrees and frosty. My stand was slicker than snake snot !! Good luck guys!

Great buck Mike...!

Get it mounted.

Another nice one from Calloway Co.

I saw one big doe on Sunday and nothing on Monday. Ended up brush hogging most of the afternoon.

Will head out again later in the week after a doctor appointment tomorrow in St. Louis.

Very nice deer Mike, Congrats! I've been watching hunting shows and videos for the past week straight. My wife is ready to get me out of the house!

Nice buck Mike congrats. Shot a doe Sat. evening for meat. Will go back this weekend for Mister Buck.

40 min. into my hunt this one wanders by. I only wish it was Saturday morning instead of Friday morning, as my hunting partner was in school. 12 point, not quite as large as last years.

I do get to visit my friend Herb in St. Mary's again this year!

Outstanding buck Craig...

Send some of those our way...!

I hunted nine days...ALL day...and saw a total of five deer for the entire season. I saw that many on opening morning last year. Usually I see between 20 and 29 deer over the course of the season. But not this year. Same area...same hunting method.

Of the five deer I saw... four were does. One was a nice buck but I only saw him for about five seconds in fog the second Saturday morning as he crossed a 30 yd opening about 200 yds away...Never had a chance for a shot.

I can't remember the last year I was skunked...:(

Good thing we still have plenty of Oberle's in the freezer from last year...:D

Thanks Kerry, I hunted the rest of the weekend with my 5 year old for a doe. We had a nice 6 pt. right under our stand, but no does. The rest of the weekend the deer were pretty scarce. We'll try again the first weekend in December.

After the past (2) years, I'm afraid I'm in for a long dry spell!
