Damn rock chip

I have a set of Lucas PL-700 lamps on my car - the tri-bar type that has the Lucas logo in the center. Lost one of them to a rock chip. Replacements aren't cheap. I have 40mil 3M clear plastic protectors on my daily drivers and wonder if this would help protect a glass light also?

Looked on eBay for just round headlight film and couldn't find any. Any suggestions? I've seen this somewhere and can't remember where. It is the same stuff as is used on the clear bra's and spats except it is 3-4 times thicker.

3m makes some But heard its a pain in the ass to install and heat from headlamp ages it. Many custom bikers use it to protect same thing you had happen
