Well, I did it. My first running race. I was excited about this as I would be for a track day. I love competition, and this was no different. I set a goal of finishing 4.35 miles in 45 minutes or less, and I did at 44.29 (unofficial). Was my first race/run, I completed it and I met my goal. Pretty successful day. :D A couple pics to follow.

Congrats Tim! I remember back in my USMC days doing 3 miles in 24 minutes with a hangover, now we are glad to do it in double the time. Man getting old is the pits.

Congrats Tim. That's a good time. Keep up the good work. How are the legs feeling today?

Thats awesome Tim,
I think averaging under 10 minute/mile is great, I ran there 5K several years ago on a bet with no training and ran 30 minutes 4 seconds and payed for it for days afterwards. :D Knees wont handle it these days though, thats why I ride the bike.

Legs and calves are all good as are the knees. I've been running this length on the treadmill, but not the same running outside. There were a couple of hills that lowered my average a bit as i walked up them. Harder running by yourself, even though there are a couple thousand people around you, I just didn't feel a connection to push myself around people. The winning time by a 27 y.o. was 22.49  My goal was A) Finish under and hour; B) If under an hour, finish under 45; C) finish in the top half of participants and D) Finish in the top 3/4 of my class. Check on all of those. Finished 997th overall out of 2012 participants and 144th in my class of 210. Goal is to keep training and run a half marathon someday soon.
