Cobra Serial # Question

I have a friend who called me on lunch wanting to know information about a car he has run across. It is titled as a 1966 Cobra Convertible and has the Serial # CSX9Y852886. It is titled in Illinois.

He didn't tell me much more about the car and has not gone to see it yet. Can anyone tell by the VIN if this is a Superformance, or could it possibly be the real deal? I don't know enough about the VINs to make a decision.

The serial number is not from an original. It is a serial number, made to conform to current VIN standards. I've seen numbers like this on Fact. Fives, Contemporary, Classic and others.

He'll have to look at the car to determine the brand - but it isn't a Shelby

I didn't think so. I've not seen
a factory five with CSx in the number. But thought it be a super form
Manchester or continuation
