Cobra Consultant needed

I recieved the following e-mail from a friend of mine. He is looking for a little help putting a value to a vehicle. I thought I would put it out there. He ruled me out, as we are friends, and it could be construed in court.

I know the consultant does get paid, but I don't know how much.

Would anyone be interested or know someone who would be?

I need a consultant to appraise a vehicle that is marital property in a pending divorce case. The car in question is a reproduction Cobra, possibly a Superformance, titled in Illinois in 2000 as a “Mustang Cobra Convertible”. The car is located in the St. Louis area and would likely require an on-site inspection. Thanks in advance, Mike Meehan

You may want to contact Fastlane Classic Cars, or Motoexotica. They can probably get a retail value or put you in contact with an appraiser.

As you know, the value can vary greatly on these cars. The manufacturer of origin MUST be the starting point. From there, build quality, current condition of the exterior, miles on the odometer, engine style, etc. will greatly effect the value of most replicas. Cobra Country dot com and ebay may also be used as comparison studies. Any available original paperwork for the car would be of great significance. I can tell you this however, if it is actually a Superformance, establishing a value range would be relatively easy. SPF cars generally sell in the 50K range. There are easy to identify markers that can help establish the SPF DNA, namely the chassis number markings throughout the car. The chassis number will date the year of production.

Testify in a court of law - that's a whole different level.

I'm no expert, but I would help any way possible. I could help identifying various manufacturers, and may suggest some resources for further assistance.
