Keith/Naja has suggested an AWESOME idea in another thread re: "Cards Opening Day Players Intro Rides" Does everyone agree that it would be really neat for our club to parade around Busch Stadium with Cards players in our beasts on opening day? Mark & Tim if everyone agrees it is a great idea we should begin making enquiries asap.

I say go for it. Would we have enough cars? We'd need to find how many they'd need, if it's even feasible. If not opening day, then one day when they are bringing in someone special or honorig a group of people. Of course, I don't know how they'd feel about Mark doing a burnout!
 
What about .............................

we lock in the Cards on the deal & then we start recruiting people to join the club (ie PAID membership dues) with the enticement being they get to be in the Cards Opening Day Parade? :D:cool: Bet then we would have enough cobras. :cool:
 
What needs to happen is we need to find out the procedure for this. Once the requirements are known, and the information is posted, then I believe more response will be generated. That said, who knows where to even begin with this? Anyone have contacts with the Cards, cards management, or ball park management?

Sure. But, as you can see, we don't have enough participation to support something like this. Even if you could put two players per car, we would still need 20 cars, we can't get that to a meeting.
 
I think if the Card's management agreed, we could get plenty of cars there. Cobra pilots would come from far & wide to participate. But, just because we want to do it doesn't mean it's possible. I'm sure there are Corvette, Mustang, Miata and other clubs that would like to do it too but I would guess that there are corporate (paying advertisers) deals in place to get exposure for the new cars even though ours are far cooler. Even though I'm not into one ball sports :D, I still think it's worth looking into. Tom
 
I bet cars would come from more than just the club if this were to happen. I could see cars from Jeff city, KC and IL figuring out how to make it to STL. I would agree the first step is to figure if this is even possible with the ball club. I wouldn't worry as much about car participation at this point.

Naj/Keith mentioned in this thread that he thinks Ford Motor pays big bucks to have their badge displayed in the cards opening day parade. Tom's right tho it is worth checking into. Wonder if Ford would give the thumbs if in some way it was prominently mentioned that Ford products ie drive drains are used in our beasts?
 
Ok, since my VP duties involve club activities, I will put a few feelers out. I have one direct contact with the cardinals, and a couple not so direct contacts with the cardinals. I have a direct contact with Ford as well. Maybe Wier could step up a bit. Just tossing ideas out there. I will let everyone know what response from the club is as soon as I can.

thanks for all your hard work & dedication. This COULD be some awesome exposure for our club as well IF its doable taking into consideration all the MAJOR hurdles that would have to cleared. In reality it probably is just a pipe dream, cause we all know $ talks & BS walks.
