If memory serves me right they have only 3 main bearings. Just checked with yahoo it has 5 main bearing - tho ford did have 1 v-8 for very short time that had 3 large main bearings, can't remember what they used it in.

I had a 292 in a 57 Ford and then a 312 T-bird engine (same block) in a 59 Ranchero. The 312 was an Interceptor engine. Wish I had that back today. Bought it for 25.00 when I was 15.

That engine is a "Y" block. First ohv for Ford.

292 came out in 1956 along with 312 in Tbird
They had pistons the size of coke bottle and the rod was longer than your ()*^
No RPM but fair amount of torque.
I played with all of 'em at one time or another. They were indestructable.
The one in the pic is probably a 272(very small carb)
