Our 25th Anniversary is the end of this month and I was considering booking a Bed&Breakfast to celebrate quitely, but I've never done one so I don't know what's a good one or what to expect.

Any suggestions / recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated.

(this should help build up my "Good Husband / Cobra" points! :D)

sorry, back to more MANLY discussions....................

Kathy and I have stayed three times at the Hermann Hill Inn B&B...and HIGHLY recommend it. So much so that we gave my sister and brother in law a gift certificate for a one night get away.

The service is excellent. Breakfast in bed was outstanding. Cookies and Ice Cream in the evening. Jacuzzi in the room and hot tub on the patio... The view is breathtaking.

Plus you within walking distance of the Hermann Winery and Restaurant. (It's just a steep walk on the return trip...:D)

I would suggest the "Chambourcin Room" with an outdoor patio and hot tub overlooking Hermann. Very Intimate. Also the Vignoles or Cynthiana rooms are great if you prefer open expansive window views with a small Veranda... in exchange for an outdoor hot tub and patio. I would also suggest the Inn for a couple rather than the cottages. More romantic and focused more on special occasions.

I would highly suggest BIG CEDAR LODGE just south of Branson.
Go with the Private Log Cabin - Honeymoon Package.
You (she) will not be disappointed.

I've heard many good things about a place in Hannibal (Mark Twain house?), but haven't stayed there myself.

Going to one this weekend in Augusta called the M.S. Clay House (or something like that). My memory is really poor, but I booked it over a year ago and we are just getting around to going. I'll let you know what I think of it next week. I know that they can be pretty darn expensive! But hey -- she's worth it!

OK, now I know that it is properly named the H.S. Clay house in Augusta. Diane and I had a very enjoyable stay there Saturday night. The house is just packed with neat stuff! The owners are very nice and they have English Sheep Dogs that the guests normally do not see, but since I am a dog lover I enjoyed them, too. There are modest appetizers in the evening, and you are responsible for finding your own dinner. We went to an excellent restaurant in Washington called American Bounty. Perhaps some of you are familiar with it. It has really excellent food, and is rather pricey, but worth it!

Breakfast at the Clay house was great, but one would expect this at a good B&B. There are a lot of good choices for B&B, but I suggest you drop by the H.S. Clay house and talk with the owners, Lea and Alan.
