Calendar Photos

Guess I'm on the sidelines with Keith, Rich and Skip

When's our turn?

Paul

I do enjoy a challenge, so I'd be up for trying to get a white car to stand out against a white background, but I think it'd be much easier with a brightly colored car. I picture a clean white car against a dirty background, something downtown with an industrial feeling, or against a graffiti covered wall. I think the clean car against the cluttered background would contrast well.

Well, I have 2 bradford pears in my front yard and 4 more on the side of the house. I'm not really sure how you would frame a pic with them. I'd be happy to take a couple of pics and send them to you to see if they would work for you. Oh and my car isn't white ad I should be home Sunday morning. :)

The road out in front of my work has 3 or 4 of them in a row on either side of the street which may work, but I was hoping for an entire street lined with dozens of them. I will try and go on a location scouting drive tonight and see what I can find.

Try downtown St Chuck, my neighborhood and maybe New Town

Not sure where your neighborhood is, but downtown St. Charles and New Town were a bust, most of the trees were bare. But I did find a couple of locations close to 94 & 40/64. There is a church at 6001 S HWY 94, Weldon Spring, MO 63304 with large trees lining the street. According to the SunCalc website, the road points directly towards the sunrise, should be perfect light on Sunday at 6:30ish if I can convince anyone to meet me out there that early. I was worried about an early morning service making it crowded, but their website shows services are at 10:30.

Tom, try 94 South, when you get to Pralle, turn Right, go straight by the Sonic. They recently trimmed the trees, so not sure if this is good. There is a street in front of my house lined with them. See this link for location - http://goo.gl/maps/dw1ah Everwood Lane

Thanks Tim, but the location I had found worked pretty well, still need to tweak the photos a bit, but here are a couple shots I took of my dad's '47 Ford this weekend...unfortunately no Cobras.

Didn't know we were supposed to be anywhere this past weekend. I wasn't doing anything Sunday. Sorry if I missed the invite, but my color wasn't a preferred color for these shots, per previous post. Plus, I'm out for the calendar. I think 3 times in 4 years is enough :D

Nobody was supposed to be there, more of an open invite, gauging interest post up higher in the page. No big deal, we'll try again sometime. I'm still planning on a rolling rig shot with your car.

Excellent

Tom,
The shot with the Church in the background is excellent. Hope you have a link to a commercial agent - that one is a money shot. Someone will pick it up for a calendar

Excellent work

Paul

Thanks Paul, we took around 10 different shots, but as soon as I set the camera up for the one with the Church I knew it was going to be the best of the bunch.

Rich, great shots! Love the first one, I like how the car isn't right in the middle of the shot, and I like that it was shot from down low. My only suggestions would be to try and keep from having trees, light poles, etc. from looking like they're growing out of the car. Maybe move the camera/car to the camera's right about 5 feet and use the branches and trunk of the tree to frame the car. The other thing I hear a lot is to turn the wheels so the wheel is facing the camera as opposed to the tire, although I like the way it looks in your shot. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the tips. I was rushed a little, as I had to get to work, and I wanted to take advantage of the morning sun.

We're going to start shooting the calendar this weekend, I plan on doing shoots every Sunday evening (weather permitting) until we have 12 good shots. I will post where and when each shoot will be, anyone interested in attending is welcome to. Here are a couple of shots that I think are calendar worthy, let me know what you think...

And this weekends shoot will be at 6:30PM on Sunday in old St. Charles. We're meeting at the Art Foundry at the end of Main St. opposite Trailhead Brewery. 520 N Main St, St Charles, MO.

We're doing another shoot earlier this Sunday the 15th. 1:00PM at Omer's Garage we'll be shooting Gene Eime's car.
