Boy, slot car racing has come a long ways...

Tim, I've seen posts of guys that build a big layout on a wood platform, suspended by cables in the garage and raised and lowered with another garage door opener (these get very heavy when you build a big wood platform!)

They race every Sunday night, I would suggest the location in Balwin, he has the big road course I included earlier and a high banked oval (it's pretty cool, but can get your head spinning when you race 4 - 2 minute heats!). if anyone's interested in going, I'l schedule something and try to get some lender cars linedup.

If someone has the room to host an event and we want to make a meeting out of it, I can talk to the guys in charge of the portable oval. It's a 4 lane tri-oval, measuring almost 50' around the track.

Ummm Vellllllly Intereeeeeeeesting. What does it measure from end to end & side to side? I've got a 4 car garage that could probably handle it.

No offense Dave, but Steve is a lot closer :D You should come in and see civilization every now and then :D I think this would be a great winter event and could couple it with a meeting. Can we go ahead and plan on doing this on February 9th? At Steve's?

Where's your office Steve?
Let me talk to the Slot Car club.
It takes about 1/2 hr to setup & 1/2 hr to take down (less with more help moving it).

Mark:

My office is on Hwy 109 between Wild Horse Creek and Clayton in Wildwood.

Is this track for 1/24, 1/32 or both scales?

Having a meeting at the same time works for me. We could have pizza delivered. I normally have a stock of Coke and Diet Coke. I can lay in some Bud Light also.

Steve

It's both 1/32 & 1/24. I built it extra wide so nerfing is possible, but not a problem.
It has a computerized track-management system that records lap times and positions.
I believe the footprint is 15' x 23' so your area should be a good fit.
Pizza, soda / beer sounds GREAT to me.

I've contacted the Slot Car Club (MGPMRC) and proposed 2/9.

Thanks Steve! Can we get an approval from the Club leadership?

I second the motion. :D I'll bring all my vintage/antique slot car stuff.:p:D BTW Hey Tim life over here in hillbilly hollar ain't that bad. It sure would be neat to live closer to you guys tho. I like the roads in Mo. better than here too. River Road is the best we got over here. Love the run to Potosi. I need to do the run to Hermann & I'd like to stop at that sausage bar.

I went to my vette buddy's (Jim S.) house in Edw. for the 1st time tonight & we raced slot cars in his basement for 30 mins before we went to a Corvette meeting in O'Fallon, IL. Man does he have a neat set up. My fastest lap time was 7.04 secs! He said when ya get into the 6s on his track your "flying." His track is "stacked" 2 tiers high in several places. QUERY; Who is interested in going to his house to race in conjunction with a club meeting or just for fun? I'll bet he'd love to have us over.
