Avatars are the image (or letters) that appear in your member box. Many have noticed with the update, the graphics have improved greatly. Many of the avatars imported from the old forum and low resolution and look pretty fuzzy.
I've been told you can improve that by uploading an image that is 384px X 384px (or a multiple of that). You can go to your profile (click on your username on the menubar, then on Account Details. You will see your avatar, click on it to upload a new one.
I don't know if there is a maximum size but find one you like & try it.
