Anyone have a commercial address with lifting equipment?

Need an engine for the ol' escort and a few places that have them only deliver to commercial locations with a means to unload a palletized engine. Thanks!

I have had 2 engines delivered over the years. Just have them ship it to one of the many local trucking terminals they use and go pick it up yourself. They will load it onto a pickup or trailer for you with a forklift. The teminals are all close to me so I could go get it for you if needed.

How does the terminal know to expect your item and what do the terminals charge for this? How do you arrange something like this? Thanks!

Every major trucking company has a terminal they use in every major city. Many in St Louis are down on the river front near Pick-n-Pull. My LS1 was shipped just across the river from me in Illinois. Just find out what trucking companies they can ship with and then call them directly to find out what terminal they use. As I recall there was an option for "Local pickup" on the shipping billing. It might actually be cheaper as they go to the terminal 1st and then put it on a local truck. Their system is much like UPS but with bigger stuff. They normally call you when it arrives, but look at their sites and you will find a tracking ability to know when it has arrived.

Here is Old Dominion's terminal: http://www.odfl.com/locator/TerminalLocator.jsp

Here is ABF's terminal: https://www.abfs.com/tools/rsearch/...&radCountry=US&return_what=2&txtZipCode=63034

Here is Con-way's terminal: https://www.con-way.com/webapp/servicecenter_app/ServiceCenterInfo/ServiceCenterDetail.jsp

Hold for pickup

I was going to post this same comment earlier - Mike's got the right idea. Your shipper should be familiar with the term "hold at terminal for customer pickup" The key is to use a shipper who has a terminal that is convenient to you. Most carriers have Saint Louis terminals but not all do.

Just tell your shipper you plan to pick it up at the terminal and work with them to select the best carrier to meet everyone's needs.

Once at the terminal, they'll call you to tell you it's in. You can then arrive with your truck or trailer and they'll set in onto your vehicle. It's a preferred method by them since they don't have to fool with local delivery.

Thanks for the tips. Looks like they use LTL, so will see if they have a terminal in st. louie. :)

Thanks for the offer! :) I'm narrowing down a few sellers, so will let you know one way or the other.

Ask your supplier which LTL(less than truckload) carrier they have with a good discount...you may have to prepay the freight to get a good discount....LTL carriers do not normally give a discount for frt collect shipments
(this info comes to you from 30+ years in the LTL biz)
