Howdy all! Well, wouldn't you know it, I just got rid of our push mower last week and now our rider is crapping out. Just a little history...I bought this pre-owned and it worked great up until the beginning of this season. During each start, the throttle would have to be set higher and higher to get it to kick over (seemed like the carb was running super rich). Once started, though, it would run nice and smooth from idle all the way to WOT. Today, we had to crank the throttle all the way open to start it, then once it was running, you could feel a slight miss. Once the blade was engaged, then the shakin' and dancin' really started. I removed the filter assy. and that made no difference. When I observe cranking I see fuel being blown out of the carb. With the carb removed, I placed a card over the manifold and it sucks hard and then blows out some air then sucks hard again. I also checked the spark plug and it is dark, but does not look fouled. This mower is a 12.5 HP MTD and is only about 4 seasons old. I'm going on a limb and assume it's not a carb issue (looks clean, float and valve work good, linkages nice and smooth), which I guess would leave magneto or valves or ??? Oh, and I also disconnected the safety kill and that didn't change anything either.
The miss seems to happen in conjunction with the governor arm movement. Thanks in advance!
