I'll start since I am experiencing one right now....

Arrived at Lambert around 3:00 today for our 4:20 flight....The flight was cancelled while we were getting ready to check in. No other flights available to make our connection later today. My wife is on the phone with US Airlines and then my phone rings...it's our travel web-site agency informing me the flight is cancelled....after a few calls they can get us on a direct flight with another airline, flight is now supposed to leave at 7:20 pm.

Well it's now 7:30 and I'm still sitting at the gate, no plane in sight, board says it is delayed until 8:30...

Who wants to lay down a bit it is delayed again before we leave tonight? I wouldn't give even odds on that one...

I used to travel a lot. I found out quickly that the best thing to do when traveling is to relax and go with the flow. Best I had was once I missed my flight out of St. Louis. I was going to Portland with one stop I believe in Denver. When she finally figured out how to get me to Portland I was told my plane was leaving in 20 minutes, please don't look at my ticket until I get on the flight. I asked why and was told you have to make a few stops.

St. Louis to KC, KC to Denver, Denver to LA, LA to Reno(which is horrible to fly into!!) Reno to Portland.

PS-Have a rum & coke if traveling late, have a bloody mary if traveling early.

Yeah, my first trip with then baby Brad (he was 2 weeks old) to Little Rock. Linda dropped us off, and I had plenty of supplies. That is unless the flight was delayed. It was, for 2 hours. So, here I am, first time Dad, I've run out of prepared baby formula, and having to walk and walk with an upset baby. Finally start giving him water - at that time, it wasn't a big deal to give water to a baby right out of the fountain, or at least I didn't think so. Anyway, we finally made it to Little Rock - he slept the whole flight and the whole trip to Grandmas. Now that I type it, maybe it wasn't a horror story after all. :D I could tell you about my 2 or 3 near misses, but probably not stories you want to hear right now.

Here's a horror story...I've worked for the airlines for 30 years...
Got at least 7 to 10 more to go. That's scary!

Sometime if you got two or three days I'll tell you a few stories. After 33 years in the business I've seen more than I'd like to remember. The sad thing is that its going to get worse.

I bet Randy! I'd buy you a beer (if you drink those things) to hear a couple...stories!

I seriously looked at retraining 8 years ago to go into advanced flight school to get into the airline industry. I guess I was fortunante that the events in Sept. 2001 changed the business and many friends I knew were furloughed, not hired, or let go. Between the cost of the school, required hours to get my ATP, and the low starting pay with a regional airline, I decided to remain a private pilot and an Architect for my profession...

Trust me Scott, you made the right decision. Its funny you should mention being an architect. I always thought if I had it to do all over again I probably would have been an architect or maybe a structural engineer. But then again I don't think I was smart enough.
