In 1932 Auburn stuffed their 391 cubic inch 12 cylinder engine onto their speedster chassis. This engine created 160 horsepower and the car, which could accelerate to speeds exceeding 100 mph, could be taken from the boulevard to the racetrack. In fact, the 1932 Auburn Speedster set many stock car speed records at California’s Muroc Dry Lake. Additionally the famous Collier Brothers competed strongly in both America and Europe racing a 1932 Auburn Speedster. • Unfortunately, in 1932 times were tough for both the United States and for Auburn. And so, to make the car even more enticing, Auburn priced the car under $1000 – an amazing bargain for the day. Historically, in fact, this car remains the only new twelve-cylinder car to ever be priced under $1000. • Due to the low price, however, many consumers speculated that the car was made with substandard parts and quality. In fact, in part due to its very low price, the car did not sell well nearly as well as Auburn has planned.

It almost has to be a replica. Even a replica would be a fair trade for the vette. The real cars are way up in the 6 figure range.
