2013 STLSCCA Event 4

I managed to eek past the JDM CRX by a half second, but some guy showed up with a Daytona, beat me by almost three whole seconds, and took all the class points...

I took another glance at the CRX, and that thing has a bunch of camber and there are aluminum cowl braces visible through the wheel arches. I'm guessing a full Street Prepared class suspension. Actually, I don't think cowl braces are legal in SP.

Since we ran on dry pavement, and everyone else ran in the rain, I expected the index numbers to be inflated, and worthless. But us bottom two ran .83XX and Mike ran .88XX. In fact, the CRX ran below what he did on the first two events, and I ran below my potential. Possibly due to early morning low temperatures and first heat grit covered pavement?

Good thing Mike repeated back to me the rear traction advice he swears I gave him last year. A couple more pounds of air in the rear tires and all of a sudden the back of the car is planted more and I can charge into the corners again. I still don't think I'm smart enough to have known that.
Once I get used to driving more aggressively again, I might have a chance at taking some points back away from Mike.

Bill congrats on besting the CRX. I knew you could do it! That advice last year cut 7 tenths off my time and my car was also much more planted in the rear. It sure is easier to run fast when you can push the car to the limit.
