2010 Dyno Day - Sat April 3rd

Alright Bruce, I see how ya are, stuck up SPF guys :D And enough with posting number, I mean, with each one I tumble down the list (thanks Randy :() So glad your engine is better Randy. Bruce, Omer seemed to think as long as the pressure recovered, it wasn't a big deal. I guess with all the issues that Mark has had and found, I suspected an issue with the fuel pump since Mark's wasn't up to par with what the engine required. Now, I have to get that new intake :D

I wish I had full numbers to post but it didn't work out that way. I was actually happy to learn that I am going lean up top and will happily stay out of the throttle till it's corrected.

"Short pull" numbers @4,000 RPM were 298 HP / 352 torque

We have a large variety of different motor combinations in our group. We range from modular, 302 both carbed and supercharged with a variety of diferent type of SC's to strokers, 351 392's 427 FE and 460's both standard and stroked there as well. I know I probably missed some, but with such a great cross-section of engines, properly tuned we could have a lot of data to compile on future kits and upcoming builders. I like numbers and I was thinking of compiling some statistics on the different combinations and posting them for everyone to review when they wanted to build. Every engine choice is unique to the individual tastes and what the person wants to put into the engine, but it would give someone a real good sanity check. I wish Mike D's was done as i'd like to throw his LS in the mix as well.

Odd note - I was watching top speed on the monitor all day - Tim by a long shot at 150+ mph.
But, not a competition.

I plan on letting Omer do the adjustments that he suggested. I guess that the timing is more critical to getting max hp but that the torque will remain close to what it currently is. This is the first time that I have done a dyno (or as Tim says "that there fancy machine that makes my car sound good") so I'm not sure what the end result will or should be but am game to see. Bruce

I don't feel good knowing that Tom's short pull was better than my complete run. I think I better get back to Omer soon or Tim won't let me in on any future rides. Or I could just say its a bb and offer any number of excuses. Bruce

Mark, That may be primarily his rear gear setup, but still and interesting note.

Bruce, I'm sure you'll be please with the result when he's through. Let me know what your final numbers are and I'll update my chart.

After looking at my old Dyno, I'm actually down 20hp and 8 ft/lbs torque. Hmmm, oil has changed, maybe need to look at timing?

Update

I picked my car up from Lynch yesterday afternoon. Yes, I finally thought what the hell if I can't trust Omer who can I trust and dropped it off for the day. The "detuned" motor with a 3.33" (6 lb.) pulley, new 255 high pressure fuel pump and 42lb injectors on a very safe tune now makes 350/350 at the wheels and feels great on the road! Now I can run at any speed with confidence and decent fuel mileage knowing that it's safe. Nice to know that it can be dialed up at any time with more boost and an inter-cooler. Dan & Gary have the numbers to prove that.

Sounds great Tom! I'm glad you're happy with the tune. I was curious what yours would come up with since we have virtually the same base engine. Thanks for the info. That's still over 400 at the Flywheel and nothing to sneeze at.

That's great Tom. That will get you attention.

Everybody's cars are getting all tuned up. Next year, we'll have to plan a group buy on new rear tires.:D
