Looks like the weather may break later in the morning / early afternoon. How late will Omar be around? Can I show up at noon and still get on the dyno? It takes me about 30 minutes to get there from IL and I would like to improve my chances of arriving dry by waiting until noonish to leave. I don't want to miss this opportunity. Tim, if you are planning on being there, rain or shine, would you mind giving me your cell phone number? Mine is 618-779-4836. Call me if you don't want to put your number on the thread.
Kent

Kent - I'm sure I will have Omer tied up until 10 anyway. The rain looks to be moving out around 11ish. Want me to just call you from there when I'm done and let you know what's going on?

Mark - I replied to the thread you mentioned and invited him to bring one of those 'exotics' over to the dyno :D Bet he don't  What is an exotic anyway?

Tim - That would be great. If you could call about 1/2 hour before you free up the dyno, I'll head your way. If the weather moves out ahead of time I'll come early, hand out and learn a few things. Thanks

Watching the weather forecast right now and they're saying after 6am, most of the rain will be East of St. Louis.
Should be clear in Chesterfield (if we trust our weatherman)

Guys,
Sorry I missed the fun. Please post you engine type and particulars with HP and Torque. You too Kerry. I'm curious what your base line and final were.

No pull was completed on our LS1 as there was a vibration in the driveline that may be a dry universal joint or something as simple as a flat spot on a tire. In any event Omer did not want to complete the pull until the vibration was identified.

On the drive home there was no sign of the vibration yet it was clearly there when on the rollers. I am beginning to think it was a flat spot on the tires from sitting in the parking lot all morning as once the tires warmed up on the trip home I could not hear or feel it. These are brand new Michelin tires and I had a similar occurrence with new Pirelli tires on our Crown Vic.

Kerry

Kerry recently purchased a used Suburban and was going to have it dynoed and a quick tune put to it. Tim had his Avalanche done as well. Kerry I believe is still building a modular engine. I on the other hand hope to be the first in the club with and LS Cobra!;)

The suburban didn't make the first pull due to a strange noise in the drivetrain, suspect a bad u-joint. The Avalanche, well, started at 190Hp, ended up at 226 Hp with 292 ft/lbs Torque. I can really tell a difference in towing and driving.

The car actually decreased in power, some due to the heavier oil in it for the upcoming track days and some due to the carb possibly.

We ended up with Me, Tom, Bruce, Randy, Kent, Mike B and Kerry on the Dyno. Results are:

Me - Cobra 392 Hp 430 ft/lbs Torque
Tom - pull stopped as car went bad lean - Tom will be replacing the injectors and some other things before taking it back for a final tune.
Bruce - 245Hp (I think) and don't remember the torque number. Suspect car is a little short on timing.
Randy - Didn't get his numbers, but he said they were where he expected.
Kent - Cut short due to a knocking noise, not sure what it is, but it went away after cooling off a while. Kent drove home - any update?
Mike b - Didn't get his numbers either - he left a little early to go work on his Serpent Express trailer (who knew?)

Any other updates?

Mark and Tim, thanks for the update. Randy, Bruce, GaryO, Mike, Kent and others that were there, please chime in with your numbers and what you thought of the day. Curious minds who weren't able to be there want to know! I'm sorry i missed it. Megan's volleyball tournament was a bust. Half way through the lights went out in the gym from loss of power. Shelley said "You would have been better off going to the Dyno day after all!" Dooh!

Best $45.00 I've ever spent!

My little 302 sb made 443 hp and 404 fp at 5800 rpm. The torque leveled out around 400 at 5000 rpm, but the hp was climbing steady. It was a great time, and as in the past it changed my mind about selling the car. Unless of course someone offers me a sick amount of cash!

Cute little torque number :D Glad you changed your mind temporarily, until the next time you have to give it a good cleaning :D

Good morning. I got about what I expected and what I should of had on the first motor. Horsepower at 5500 was 398 and torque 404.93. Omer said we will be able to get an additional 20 hp or so with a mixture adjustment. Not as good as Gary's but mine sounds better.

Randy, Thanks for posting your numbers. Very nice and your happy with a well running machine. I'm more curious about the numbers and the driveline combinations. They are all good and like you, what ever mine comes out to be, I'll be happy with as long as it's running well. You're running a carbureted BB 427 aluminum engine with a performance cam right? Can't wait to actually get to cruise with some of you guys this year. Last year was pretty much a bust for me.

My lowperformance superformance has a FRPP 392 stroker rated at 430hp & 450torque. The rest of the specs are: 770 Holley street avenger Tremec TKO500 and Dana IRS 3.46 ratio. Numbers on Sat. were 299hp @ 5000 to 5200 and peak torque of 348 @ 2800 to 3400. Ford says peak hp should be @ 5500, mine was 285 there. I thought the timing was 32 @ 3000 but he thought that the timing might need to be reset and then jetting changed. AF ratio was ok, between 12 and 13 except for when the vacumn secondaries opened up at 4100. Mark and Tim were looking at the fuel pressure gauge and observed that it dropped to about 3 lbs. when the secondaries opened, this is not unusual (?). If the Ford numbers are real with 20% loss the numbers show have been closer to 345 hp & 360 torque. The torque was close but hp not close. He seemed confident that with timing and jetting changes we should get closer to the hp number but I didn't ask about torque going up. Any thoughts? I should also mention that it was a great time and I learned a lot, except when Tim was talking. Bruce

Great info Bruce. I know when he found the problems in my car I was bummed, but once they were fixed, my car is running better than ever. I can't wait to get it back over for it's final tune. I wish I could have been there. Are you going to try and get a little more out of it, or are you going to leave it alone and just have fun driving it? Thanks!
