Today, I had a brief meeting with a very interesting fellow. He runs a vinyl stripe operation here in Eureka. He did an awesome job on Madison's car, and I stopped by to say thanks the way only cash can say thanks. He recognized me as the blue Cobra guy and we started talking car stuff. He offered a tour of his shop. Not the vinyl shop - the DRAGSTER SHOP. Apparently, he is THE leading restorer of original dragsters and funny cars from the 1960s. We talked engines, blowers, nitrous, etc. He prides himself on not just period correct restoration, but period "original" restorations. Now his shop is a mess, but I found myself nose-to-nose with Mickey Thompson's original funny car. He had a couple of rails, and 3 or 4 funny cars. I don't remember their names (they all had names). They were mostly frames, and body shells. How awesome. Just an old shop filled with historic winning race cars in old-town Eureka. What a day.
