10/10ths @ Putnam in 2013

Just registered for the Advanced group with you Steve. Bumpin' is racin' remember :D

As long as I grid ahead of you and don't pass you I'm safe. :p

Now on to a more serious discussion - who else is going to run with us?

Mike Marshall - running with 10/10ths would be a good place to start your road course experience. Even as a novice you can have a passenger. This means that after running with one of their instructors you can have Tim and me ride along also. Once you feel comfortable, get an instructor to ride with you a final time to check you off for movement up to intermediate.

If you watch the one lap of video I posted earlier (lap_11) you'll see the huge amounts of run-off you have at every turn except #10. I have to believe that Putnam is one of the safest tracks in the country.

Gotta admit, I'm gonna be nervous running in this group. Anyone know if a curved/concave rearview mirror can be mounted on the roadster? Mark P, noticed you had some of the round concave mirrorrs, do those help side to side and to the rear.

Most of those concave mirrors clamp or slip over an existing mirror. I am sure we can whip up a mount for it to attach to the windshield.

Mirror

I am running a convex mirror on my side mount. I got it from Mark's buddy, R/T

You can buy them at any auto parts store but the convex is too great - making the image too small to be usable. The one's that R/T offers are a little flatter so the image is bigger. You'll pay more for postage than for the mirror:mad:

R/T Cobra mirrors

They also make a larger cowl mounted multi-step convex mirror that gives you a very large field of view. Don't have a link for them.

I put them on temporarily until I decided what kind of side-mirrors I want to run and to answer your question, NO they do not help. Too small and the angle of the windshield directs them down to much. They are slightly adjustable (have a pivot built-in) but not enough to compensate for the windshield.
I like the ones Paul posted and will probably buy a set of those to go on some Raydots mounted mid-way on the windshield posts. (that's my plan)

Steve, like the wheels :D Did you take your numbers off or did they blow off?

The one on the driver's side blew off so I took the other one off too. They were old and didn't stick well. I have some newer ones that should stick better.

Pam said she likes the look of the wheels (I don't but they were cheap).

Steve

Do you have sway bars on that thing? Some of the pics it looks like the Right front is going to come off the ground.

Paul,
I'm thinking about buying a couple of these to mount on my Raydot's.
Did you buy the 4:1 or 8:1? I was planning on buying the 4:1 for both sides, but wanted to ask you opinion first.

4:1

Tim
I used the 4:1 You can buy the 8:1 at any Walmart or Autozone for about $5. But the image they offer is way too small to be useful. It may work ok on the passenger side but definitely not on the drivers side

Just registered for the 6/29 - 6/30 event at Putnam. Will get to drive an SRF while there too :D Hope some of you will consider coming over.

Well, maybe not on the SRF. The engine is down on power and they don't want to hurt it anymore.

Heading over Friday for a weekend on the track in the Advanced group. Hope I don't get in anyone's way. I have an extra bed in the room if anyone wants to ride over.
