• For all members (past, current, and new)

    THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING TO GET THIS CLUB OFF THE STARTING LINE !!!

    To begin your membership with Gateway Cobra Club please submit your vital information to our club registrar/Treasurer: Paul Proefrock

    Please include your:

    Name, address, phone numbers (work, home, cell) e-mail, etc. Also, tell us about your Cobra (make, model, year, colors, engine, options, stage of build, etc.), where you bought it, any other particulars. Also include other vehicles, birthdays, your occupation & company, and any other details about you and you significant others. BTW - this info will not be posted on-line (EVER). It's just for us - to make the club better. We will eventually create a database for internal club use only.

    We will begin collecting dues soon to enable the activities that we have planned for the year - so stay tuned for that.

    FINALLY - get involved. Attend the meetings, schedule some cruises, and have some fun. We want to make this club fun (for the whole family). We're small (for now) but we're going to make a big noise here in St. Louis. In the end - this club will only be as good as our members participation.

    Thanks for joining us - see you in the fast lane!

Hi all! I've been lurking here for about a month, I just purchased a new-to-me Backdraft RT3 professionally built by Vintage Motorsports in Connecticut. I'm setting up shipping ,etc now.

Would anyone have guidance on the next steps at the St. Louis County DMV. Will I need safety/emissions/etc before registering?

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

-Tim

Hi Tim,

I'm not in St. Louis County, but I brought in a Factory Five MK4 Roadster that was titled in another state a year and a half ago. Because the car was already titled, all I had to do was get a VIN and odometer check at one of the many locations that perform those. Once I had that, I just took the out-of-state title and the ID-OD (or OD-ID ... can't recall the specific order) to the local DMV office and I was able to re-title and register the car in Missouri.

Right on! Thank you for the info David, much appreciated!

No problem. Keep in mind that the car I brought in was already titled in my name. You may also need a bill of sale or other documents in addition to the title and OD-ID form, but it should be no different than bringing any titled vehicle into Missouri from out-of-state.

From: https://dor.mo.gov/motor-vehicle/titling-registration/

Missouri Resident Titling Requirements

You have 30 days from the date of purchase to title and pay sales tax on your newly purchased vehicle. If you do not title the vehicle within 30 days, there is a title penalty of $25 on the 31st day after purchase. The penalty increases another $25 for every 30 days you are late with a maximum penalty of $200.

To title a motor vehicle in the state of Missouri, the owner must submit the following:

  1. The Certificate of Title, properly signed over to you (see instructions), or Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO);
  2. A signed Application for Missouri Title and License (Form 108);
  3. An identification number and odometer (ID/OD) inspection, if ownership of the motor vehicle was transferred to you on a title issued by another state or country. This inspection can be completed by a Missouri authorized inspection station. A safety inspection, not more than 60 days old, will satisfy this requirement;
  4. An Odometer Disclosure Statement (Form 3019), if applicable;
  5. A notarized Lien Release (Form 4809), if applicable; and
  6. Additional documentation may be requested at the time of titling.
You will pay:

  • The $8.50 title fee and the $9 processing fee; and
  • State tax of 4.225 percent, plus your local sales tax on the purchase price, less trade-in allowance, if any. Our online sales tax calculator may help you estimate the taxes you will pay.
To title and register (obtain license plates for) a newly purchased motor vehicle, please refer to the Buying a Vehicle page of our website.

Thanks again for the quick response, much appreciated! I have everything lined up now.

Tim, if the vehicle has already been titled in another state, it is a simple process of verifying the VIN number to the paperwork then a trip to the DMV. If it has not been titled, and you're doing it for the vehicles first time, it's a little more involved, but not terrible. There is an article in the Knowledgebase about the process

Welcome to the group

Haha, love it! I’m sure I’ll “need” a lot of upgrades 😁

I have a couple things in mind already and the list is growing
