Cantilever... Lift?!?

At $24.99, it's really got to be special.

Thanks, I think I'll even pass on borrowing yours if you buy one.

Ian...a search of "Runtoto lift" on Amazon brings up pages of "lifts" but none are the Runtoto lift in question.
A search of "Runtoto" brings up nothing but baby clothes and MP3 music.

This is clearly a scam...

There is a YT video of a guy named "Viny B" who designed this lift and built one. He lists the components needed with a downloadable PDF CAD drawing.

In his component links:

The thrust bearings alone cost $20.50 ...EACH

The 3/4" bearings are $10 EACH

The 1/2" bearings are $10 EACH.

The model of gear reduction used is alone over $430...!
And...there are TWO of them needed.

These component costs do not include the structural steel, wheels, fabrication, welding labor, and shipping...each of which are FAR more than the advertised price.

Someone has stolen the YT guys design using his drawings... built one and then advertised it at a price to prey on the gullible who clearly do not understand product manufacturing costs.

Oh...one more point. The ad states it is made in the US.
The current average manufacturing labor rate is $23.20 an hour....
So the manufacturer purchased two gear boxes from an outside vendor for $750 wholesale.
Bearings for the complete unit for $70 wholesale.
Structural steel for $60.
And paid American workers ONE total hour to machine, fabricate, weld, powder coat, assemble and ship a product for $24.99 ?

Really?

Interesting exchange in the YouTube comments...

Reverse engineer comment.JPG

The design was already being reverse engineered four months ago...
Runtoto has been in business a total of 14 days...

Also...the advertised unit weights "99 lbs"....but ships for FREE...??
"Because we ship products directly from the supplier, we can save huge amounts of transportation and storage costs. This allows us to offer you a lower price than our competitors and to bear the shipping costs of our products ourselves."
Yet...if you attempt to buy one...shipping is charged during the checkout process.

BTW...The original designer stated that the unit weights 190 lbs.
