Well it all began in a sleepy little town called St. Charles, actually, Harvester....Ok, I was never a story writer. Did a bit of highway and stop and go cruising to break in my brakes (see what I did there?) check alignment and my new steering rack. Ended up picking up a friend that is from Germany and we promptly headed to Hooter's at Page and Schuetz. Had a cold drink or two, asked the girls if we could get a pic of them with the cobra and they gladly obliged

Some guy comes out of the restaurant and asks me if that is my car, of course I say yes (I have a new fan......!) this is where it get's interesting. The guy says "man what a beautiful car. That's my black one over there" I look and see a Black with Gold stripes Mustang. Couldn't be, I'm thinking, is that a Shelby? Why, yes it is! I ask the guy if he would mind parking next to mine for a photo op. Not the best pic, but cool, huh?

Get to talking to the guy about it and find out that it isn't a GT-H (the Hertz car) but it has in fact been built by the Ford Racing folks for him. Huh?!?! I think was my reaction. "What do you mean, built just for you?" He says, "I know some Ford Racing Engineers, and had this built" So the specs are it is a GT-350 and at this point is at 310 hp because they didn't have the supercharger yet to install. "Supercharger?" I ask. "Yeah", he says "they had to order one and will push my horsepower to 460" So, after a bit more prodding, looking and the like, his story appears to be true. All the Shelby badging is there. He took me for a ride, and it is quick and has a very quick Hurst 6 speed tranny in it.

We start talking a bit more about the car and cars he has had. He says he has had a Porsche, Lambo Diablo and a couple other cars. This get's me to my question "what do you do for a livin'?" He says, "Oh, I'm 63 and retired, just enjoying the time off and the money. I used to be a mercenary." Um, "Mercenary?" "Yeah, had 30 confirmed kills." "who did you work for?" "Was a Marine, a sniper then contracted to the government". Hmmm. During the course of the next few hours, I repeated some previous questions just to see if the story stayed the same. It did, and he showed me his military id. I don't know if the story were true, but I do know the Shelby was real.

Oh yeah, almost forgot this one....

:D
The "rest of the story" on Saturday/Sunday.

Hey - they serve "chicken" wings at Hooters...right? So ya did do the Chicken Run...just not the one orginally planned!

Too cool man. I'd be careful about askin' too many questions of a guy like that. I've read enough Clancy, Cussler, and Vince Flynn novels to know there is some truth behind the caracters they right about who were ex-military then CIA black operatives...hey could just punch your number like that...WOW!

Nice story Tim. Pretty bold of him to tell you he was a mercenary, I always just tell em I was a "contractor". Probably got a nice dash mounted night scope for traffic practice :D.

no dis-respect Tim but ur right Tom

just going over old posts and bored! probably because i am in the spare parts bin, but pretty open minded of the guy to say that.
"loose lips sink ships";)
from my history of the talkers they probably were a cook for a bunch of swabbies.
great to stand tall but to brag of enemy kills, i really wonder if he saw the eye of his enemy thru a peep site or scope:o
