Well I finally started my winter mods. Due to limited time before the start of the AX season I am trying to keep it simple. Anybody need a TKO 500????

1. Install a T56 6 speed.
2. Move engine 1"-2" to accommodate the new trans.
3. Slightly modify the exhaust which will include using Lobaks and 3" pipe.
4. Convert to a hydraulic clutch setup.

Unfortunately I will have to delay the new cam install. Just running out of time.

Are the measurements on the old tranny similar to a 3650? I guess if I had a winter mod, it would be something to make mine less notchy. I really need a smoother shifter. Any suggestions? BTW - either your flywheel or your distributor are on the wrong end of the engine still.....I would suggest you correct that ;) :D

Tim modern engines dont need a distributor.

I think your trans is a early tko. if so they are similar in length. The big issue is that the mount on the T56 is further aft than the tko. I will let you know what it takes to make it work. The T56 is a very smooth and strong trans. Without a shifter on it I can put it in 3rd and 4th with one finger just using the stub.

I have made some progress on the install of my new 6 speed. I have the trans mount done and the engine mounts are fabricated and just need to be welded in. It should start to go back together fairly quickly now.
