Re-installed my intake today. The only issue I think I might have is re-sealing in the corner. I did like Edelbrock said and put 1/4" high RTV along the front and back, so, we'll see.

Dropped the oil pan, found the valve cover bolt I dropped and broke an oil pan bolt in the block. Backed it out with a screw extractor, so all's good, but more than half the bolts were twisted, so apparently, 20 ft. lbs was too tight  Also, I had pictures of when I dropped the oil pan that showed a 4 piece gasket, but when I removed the pan, there was the one piece. I know Canton said I would have issues with the one piece, but with this one, I didn't so I ordered a new one. Don't know where those pics came from  he$$ gettin old.

Valve covers, had a lengthy discussion with Kerry and the guy at Wise Speed shop. Both have suggested to take care of the oil problem on my passenger side (with the blowby filter) I simply replace that with a PCV and go with no open air breather. Guess this is what I will do. Also, I don't really have an oil fill location. Does it matter if it's on the passenger or drivers side valve cover?

Other than that, began on the Cobra Earls footbox kit, that's about it. Got the power ran to the switches.

Oil pan gasket due in tomorrow, be at Scott's til 3, so if all goes well tomorrow night and Sunday it's possible I could fire it up and check for leaks.

PCV path

Tim,
the longer the path between the filter and the PCV valve, the more effective it is. If the PCV valve is in the rear of the right side, the breather would work best in the front of the left side

Do you have an oil fill tube or is there a port in one of the valve covers? You can put a breather at the oil inlet point. All kinds are available.

Well, went back out and looked down low at the front of the intake, and I could see would appeared to be a hole in the RTV. Well, it was. So, I had to pull the it back off. After I cleaned off the intake, and put it back on without any RTV just to see how big a space was there, it is at least 1/8" to 3/16" of an inch. Can't believe Edelbrock only wants RTV to fill that whole space.

check for oil pressure like my girl wants to:D

Purple Venom.....LIVES!!!

Well, got the rest of the engine buttoned back up tonight. Drilled a hole in the driver's valve cover for an oil fill/2nd breather/PCV (haven't decided yet). Found a couple of other wiring issues, fixed those, put oil and antifreeze (1.75 gallons) checked everything again and cranked the engine. Hmm, no start, give her more gas....crank....crank.....vrooom! Let it idle for a while until the oil and water temp came up, checked oil pressure immediately, had plenty (80psi cold, 40 psi warm). Idle seemed fast, discovered one of my carb port caps is missing, don't know where that went, didn't see it in the oil pan :o  Figured that was worth celebration

so I came in to update ya and watch the race. Checked for leaks, didn't see any, will see tomorrow after everything has had time to cool.

So, I come home today, no leaks to be found (yay!) and started the car to let it run until the fan kicked on and cycled the coolant. It finally burped sometime during last nights run, but just wanted to make sure today. Anyway, the fan came on when it was supposed to, cooled it down to where it was supposed to. I began looking at my choke and found it wasn't working  Will work on that tonight. Also, my Tachometer stopped working. The fuse was blown. So, I replaced the fuse, but have found noting wrong, but know something is. The Tach has three leads, Switch 12v, Ground and the Ignition wire from the MSD box (which I had marked prior to disassembly, but it's dummy proof as there is a special output on the MSD box). So, any suggestions as to why it could have blown the fuse?

One other question, the vapor coming out of the passenger side valve cover filter smelled like Windex. I just put in new oil (synthetic), should it smell that way?
