Just throwing this out to the guys that have trailers. I found a Serpent Express trailer. Its new, 16 ft all aluminum, tandem 3500# axles, brakes on both, 15" wheels. Options include brakes on second axle, LED lights, trim rigs on wheels and the extra dual ribs for wind resistance and snow load. The savings is just the $300 upgrade from the standard 14 ft. Empty weight is about 1300#, located in Michigan. $6700
What do you guys think? They tow very easy, no need for a large pickup, an F150 or Explorer will do just fine.

Not Bad

Any aluminum trailer is going to be pricey, but a distinct advantage in towing. I was looking at a used one before I bought mine but the deal fell thru.

You might give a call to Mike Shepard - I believe he has a Serpent Express and can give you some data on it.

There are times I wish I had a flat deck trailer, but 16' is going to limit what you can carry. As long as you're good with that

Paul

The 14' is what is recommended for the roadster, the extra 2' would be for storage. I know it isn't much, but I don't see me taking a bunch of tools and extra's.

There are 3 guys I know in Texas that tow these with a Jeep Cherokee with no problems. Very cool setup. Mike's is a steel flatbed converted to a serpent express. Pretty heavy duty. I think this one is just what you need....that being said, I paid less than that for my 20' v-nose and I'm sure Rick and Paul paid less than that for their aluminum enclosed trailers. $6,700 seems a little high to me, but then, I never priced one either. How much for new?

$6700 is still cheaper than $4500 for an enclosed and still needing to purchase a vehicle to tow it with!

Tim, thanks for the in-sight. That is a new all aluminum. If you look at just a new aluminum trailer, they are around 5-5500, found a used one for 4500. Thats just the trailer, no cover.

Rich, A16ft trailer is more than enough room for what your looking for, now if you are going to get into racing like Tim and Steve I would think it might be a little small. On the other hand you can pull my enclosed trailer with a 1/2 truck with no problem, Paul didn't seem to have any touble keeping up with us last year going to AR. Your not going to tow it with your little toy but a Ford Explorer, Jeep Cherokee would do a fine job. My truck is OVERKILL for my trailer.

Rick

Rich, I considered the Serpent Express as a trailer option when I first started looking. Feedback on the forums showed most owners were happy with them. Biggest negative was obviously the cost. In the end, I was due to replace my vehicle so got the Yukon and an enclosed trailer. To Keith's point...the trailer is still cheaper than replacing a tow vehicle and buying a trailer! Mike P.

I don't have anything that will tow even a Serpent Express. That said, I have been looking for an affordable solution, an Explorer, or F-150. Things would be fine the way they are if Tim would just quit with the trip planning.

Rich, there is a Ford Expedition for sale on South 94 for $4,500. I know nothing else about it other than that. 94, on the North side as you are coming South right at the Heritage Crossing intersection. An older couple lives there, so would assume it's been taken care of.

Still thinking about the trailer, looks like something around $625-650 for deliver to St Louis. Also looking at an 09 F150, less that 40,000 miles, 4.6, extended cab, leather interior. Good color, silver.

Three Rivers, MI. Im a little bummed, the truck I was interested in sold today. :(

I'll volunteer my truck for you to go pick it up. 834 miles, my truck will get about 18mpg at 70mph, 30 gallon tank = $185 in fuel. Quite a bit less than $650 for transport here. Keep looking for the truck. Did you go by and look at that Expedition I told you about? Also, Martin Garage Doors on South 94 is selling some of their fleet trucks.

Tim thank you, will talk to you about that. No I didn't look at the Expedition, keep thinking truck?????
